Grow Timeline (24 updates)
It's cool to see how different the very same seeds can grow so different. They're both under the exact same conditions. I guess that's part of the fun for pheno hunters. I'm wondering if Lefty leans more indica and Righty leans sativa? Who knows, still cool to see.
I still don't understand why Lefty just can't compete with Righty. I'm starting to think the AutoPot is making all the difference. I think in the future, one plant in the AutoPot filled to the brim with Coco coir and a slightly longer vegetation period will suffice. It's only a 2x3 tent and I only grow for myself any way. Or maybe I'll buy a second AutoPot base! Lol! Unfortunately the little clones didn't make it either, so I ended up tossing them. Maybe next time I'll read up before I attempt cloning.
Because not all phenos and strains grow the same
You can have 10 of the same strain and not one of them will grow the same some faster bigger faster growth bigger leafs less leafs they are a living breathing organism just like us, not all of us grow the same some short, some fat, some tall, some skinny, different skin tones. There. We are just the same, except they are in plant form, we are in human form.
It takes awhile for clones to take off sometimes too
Thanks for the info! Thankfully she's still filling out nicely on her smaller side of the ten. Can't wait to switch them this coming week, hopefully.
Still trying to fill out what I can with Righty to compensate for Lefty's slower growth. I'm hoping to flip them to flowering this Wednesday, but it's looks like it might be this weekend or possibly the next. We'll see...
Haven't really done much else to them since the other day. They are stretching out nicely so far! Thankfully there is still room for more tucking under the net. I just need to let them grow a bit more, so they reach spot where the net will keep them down. All I've done is follow the guides I found on growweedeasy. LBH's scrog guide and their GH Flora Trio nutrient schedule. The schedule worked out great for the two autoflower grows I've done, so this will be my first time using it for photoperiods. Hoping to get some more training and possibly another defoliation in this weekend.
Switched the nutrient concentration for the preflower phase, started adding a low dose of Liquid Kool Bloom, and stopped adding Rapid Start. Also got the last dose of Armor Si, which I feel is making a difference cuz all the branches are nice and thick. Once in flowering, I'll slowly increase the dose of the liquid KB before switching over to powder Kool Bloom. Gonna start adding Floralicious Plus somewhere in the flowering stage as well, probably when I switch to powder KB is what I'm thinking.
Righty is really stretching out, I'm hoping that it won't outgrow my space. Lefty is keeping up, but still much smaller by comparison. Still looking happy, healthy, and green though. So I'm not stressing too much about her. Can't wait for buds to start showing! Here's some pics from the last couple of days.
They're both still stretching out nicely. Still having to tuck some of the shoots under the net as well as leaf tucking what I can. The smell is starting to amp up a bit, but thankfully I just upgraded to an AC Infinity carbon filter. It has been kicking ass and is way quicker and much more effective than what I had before. Here are some pics over the last few days.
Seems like your plants are light in color maybe its just the pic . But seems like they need some cal mag
Yea I think it's the camera on my phone. For some reason they show up a little washed out in the image. Thankfully, they're healthy and green, so far.
Cool . Yea my camera does that too for some odd reason but wow nice plants
Cut out all the stuff not getting light and most of the undergrowth I could reach. Started adding Floralicious Plus and increased the dose of Liquid Kool Bloom. The herby smells are starting to kick in and are extremely noticeable when I open the tent. Also switched the lights from 5pm on to 5am off, to 3pm on 3am off. It was getting hard to take care of the girls and deal with life so late in the day for me. So those few hours of difference give me more time to tend to them, since I never check them in the morning while I'm off to work. I'm learning that my skin does not like the resin, it makes me itch like a mofo, anywhere it touches my skin. Hasn't happened until I started growing these seeds. I am also contemplating getting a second AutoPot base/module for my next grow, more and more. Since watering the Vivosun base takes time out of my day to refill. I'm probably splitting hairs, but it's nice not having to check the fill levels inside the tent on the AutoPot.
She is budding a ton! Growing photos using the scrog net has been a game changer. Way more bud sites than I've had compared to the Autoflowers I've grown. The buds are starting to fill in as well, slowly but surely. She is so insanely sticky and smells like herb and Flintstones vitamins! Fruity with some kind of chalky creaminess. They're responding well to the increased dose of Kool Bloom and Floralicious Plus. Lefty is going through about a gallon and a half every 3 days, using the Vivosun self watering base. I always overfill it to where some water is coming through the lid of the base at its lowest point. I am still in awe of the AC Infinity carbon filter, I can't smell anything until I open the tent. Pretty much the whole tent is filled out and I've starting letting the shoot grow up a bit. I think in the future, I might flip sooner. Did a little training on whatever could reach a square, and started tying down some of the taller buds too. So far so good, wish me luck!
The girls are looking amazing! They are frosting up so freaking much and are so damn sticky. Righty seems to be bulking up a little faster than lefty, but none the less Lefty is also growing strong and equally frosty. The fruity berry smells are kicking in more and more. Started adding soap nuts to soak in the reservoir and I feel that helped them drink more, since they seem to be. The theory is the surfactants from the soap nuts allow the coco to hydrate more evenly. The plants are responding extremely well to the increased dose of Liquid Kool Bloom. From 3.75 to 4.25ml per every 2.5 gallons. A tiny bit of nutrient burn on the tips, but overall they're thriving happily. The trichomes are also quite huge on them! Barely have to zoom in on the pics to see them. Also started hitting them with UVA light after lights out, for two hours. I'm hoping for a purple phenotype, but stoked either way! I'm hoping they'll be ready in a month, since I have a week long trip coming up. Ended up buying a second AutoPot module, just in case. So I'm planning on swapping it in for the Vivosun self watering base. In the event they aren't ready, I don't have to worry about that base being refilled, since it sucks up it's reservoir in less than 3 days.
Welp, it was a sad and hard lesson learned. Unfortunately, I hadn't noticed that my Autopot base had gotten a little clogged. Some roots broke through the pot and plugged the little breather hole on top of the aqua valve. So the base never refilled and dried out the entire pot. I hadn't checked them in a while and figured it out too late. I unplugged it and then also quickly learned that somehow the PH went up hard, so I also had nutrient lock out after attempting to feed her again. By the time I had realized the pH issue it was too late. No matter how "automated" things might be, always give things a quick glance through out the week. I got too confident and never noticed. Unfortunately, there was nothing worth keeping as the plant wasn't very mature at that point and all the main buds dried up. So I had to chop it and gave that room to Lefty. Wish me some luck on this, I'm planning on letting Lefty go for two more weeks, hopefully less before she's ready for the chop, but we'll see. I'm hoping now that she's spread out, the lower buds might develop more in these two weeks. Seeing as she was developing slower than Righty, this might give her time to mature. She seems really happy, using the same feed that I had mixed and then ph'd properly to 6. Learn from me and keep an eye on everything, just as a precaution.
So far soo good with Lefty. The buds are turning purple and a couple fan leaves are starting to change shades. Started giving her plain, pH balanced water at 6.0 about a week ago now and she's sucking it up at about a gallon and a half every 3 days. I checked the trichomes as well and the heads are almost all cloudy with a couple of amber ones here and there. I'm hoping to finally chop her on Saturday, but we'll see what she says. The buds are pretty dense and sticky af! The stink of berries with cream and a very pleasant herbaceous smell. Not skunky but stinky af none the less. When I have the tent open, you can even smell it from outside the apartment. I have definitely learned a few things this grow, now being my third. It is very humbling to say the least lol!
Finally chopped her! Still had a good number of pistils here and there, but almost all the trichomes were that perfect cloudy shade. There were plenty of amber ones in there, but I prefer to harvest before they're all amber. I hung the whole plant and have it at around 50-60rh and hasn't climber over 70°f. I have the exhaust fan at just below 3/4 power and a little fan pointed at a wall to keep the air circulating. So far no signs of overdrying them how I did my first grow, I still have nightmares about crispy weed lol! All the fan leaves are crispy while the buds still have spring to them when I squeeze. I'm hoping to trim and bag them this weekend, but we'll see.
I cut and trimmed the buds last Wednesday and threw them into some Grove bags. So it's been a week now, they probably could have gone another day drying, but we're dry enough to trim and bag. And I didn't wanna have them over dried and end up with crispy, weightless nuggets. The top buds are great, but everything else beneath them were pretty airy. I think on the next grow I'll finally try lollipopping. Lefty ended up giving me 6.8 ounces of some great buds and about 1.5 ounces of trim and larf. Pretty satisfied overall, but I could have def done better. I'll aplly this new knowledge next grow around.
Forgot to mention they had a rough start from being over watered. Lefty was all droopy from being hit hard by the fan, but is finally upright on her own. Had to readjust the fan to keep it from slamming her. The leaves are finally starting to fill out as well and are a much healthier shade of green. They seemed pale before. I'm also using much less water than I did initially.
