Northern Lights Week 3 Flower stage

Haven't posted at all until now. This is my first grow and I'm feeling good with the progress. I'm using a 5 gallon fiber pot and a coco coir/peat medium. I've used the trio, Cal Mag and Big Bud most recently.

4 weeks into flowering stage...She getting thick!

Buds are getting denser by the day! I switched up the nutrient proportions to go heavy on potassium and phosphorus a couple of weeks ago. Bud development is through the roof!✌️

Getting close...

33 days into flowering. Buds are getting thicker and sticky. The funk rushes out of the tent when I open it! Would love some advise from you guys on when I should start hanging these buds.

Check the trichomes with a jewelers lope for readiness. If you're 33 days in, you have at least 4+ weeks to go

Green_Stem_5467

I was thinking I still had several weeks to go. Thanks for the feedback. This is my first grow, so I appreciate any advise. I bought a jewelers loupe and also a digital magnifying glass.

Tedward

Those will do perfect. Get some good micro shots then you'll have a better idea. You can also do a Google search of the trichome readiness to compare to

Final stretch!

Day 40 of flowering. Trichomes are mostly clear. Needs a little more time. Adding overdrive to the mix (subtracting big bud) for a couple of weeks. 10 day flush once the trichomes get right. Could use any advise for the home stretch friends.

Make sure you're looking for milky trichomes. Clear trichomes aren't ready yet. Shes 5½ weeks in flower right?

Green_Stem_5467

Almost 6 weeks into flowering. There are a few milky looking trichomes, but most are still like little crystals.

Tedward

There's definitely more time to mature. You're right tho, I see some milky. Do you want some amber too?

Green_Stem_5467

I've read that a little amber color to the trichomes means it's about peak harvest time. Also helps to create a relaxing effect. What percentage of amber trichomes should be visible before harvest? 10-20%?

Tedward

I'd say 10% to 20% sounds about right. Its completely up to what kind of high you prefer. Clear is little to none as far as potency

Green_Stem_5467

I'm definitely trying to maximize my potency. Haven't done all this work for just some pretty looking buds. Lol!

Tedward

Totally worth the work! She returns the favor in the end. The more amber you have the more its like a sedative so be careful also lol

Green_Stem_5467

😁 I'll keep that in mind for sure! Want to be able to enjoy it. How quick do the trichomes transition at this stage in the game? Should I be checking trichomes everyday?

Tedward

At almost 6 weeks, she starts bulking. Start watching around 7½ to 8 weeks. Any earlier is just for fun. And I'd say since the buds are consistently growing new calyx, the trichomes finish at different times. Bottom of the buds finish faster. I'd suggest to check the buds in different spots for the consistency you like

Green_Stem_5467

Thats great to know. I really appreciate the advice man. I added overdrive to the mix today. Let that roll for a couple weeks. I've read a 7-10 day flush is recommended. Makes sense to me. Hopefully I'm harvesting by early June.

Tedward

Feed her all the way through. Flushing is for fixing toxicities and salt build up. For beginning youre doing great tho, keep up the good work growmie 🤙🏿
