Grow Timeline (15 updates)
Shes starting to fill out more. instead of one thick layer, shes getting more space between leaves and branches.
yeah im doin research rn. im always scared to overstress. ive noticed some weird stuff here and there with the leaves. i appreciate ur insight. :)
What do you mean by weird stuff with the leaves? An I know what you mean but with autos if you don't defoliate more than like 2 leaves a night it won't hurt. Are you giving any calmag at all?
i just got calmag delivered 15 mins ago. gonna give it to my plant tomorrow. and the leaves were just growing at weird angles and shapes and this one was like twisted idk.
Ah.. she's an auto. She looks a lot better. You did a good job with the soil mix. Still impressed with that.
it filling out more but im noticing leaves that are overlapping and clashing and idk what or if i should remove. Theres also that weird leaf in the 3rd pic that i might remove cuz it looks dumb idk lol. it was on the back near the fan so idk if that effects it. about to water with calmag.
Clip fan should be okay as long as it's not pointing right at plant. I think your ok. Take that drooped dead leaf offa the bottom. Could be from over watering I'm not sure honestly. but if you defoliate her some that will help.
it is osolating and the wind is starting the blow the plant a bit but its on a pretty low setting. Should i leave it or maybe move it up an inch or two?
Not a problem at all once you start flowering you never want fans really close blowing directly on buds. It will dry the bud out an mess the buds up
someone suggested i should defoliate and im nervous with taking off important leaves. i took off one big on top because it was growing into important sights and covering. lmk what yall think.
My other buddy is the same way😋. I don't blame you in a way because if you don't know what your doing it is kinda freaky.
yeah im just tryna make sure nothing important is blocked and theres air flow. should i lollipop it and get rid of those lower leaves ?
That's your call on the lollipop. Keep in mind taking too many leaves will stress her so be careful only take a couple per day to be safe. I only defoliate to open up lower parts of plant. Lollipop is different
Just take whqts blocking other bud sites is it an auto? It looks like ur already in flower so im asuming it is and lolipop just small things under u will be able to tell there not going to get much light and will be small any larf too (ugly small pieces that wont do anything ill lolipop a few here a few there ur gonna get little buds popping up down there just pinch them off thatd what i do also any big fan leaves that are smashed in the middle more airflow thru the bottom the better
damn u think im already in flower ? yeah its an auto. and okay i needa look at what exactly the bud sights look like lol. thanks for the info. ill mess eith it tomorrow
Yea i wasnt looking close it just looked like it when i zoomed in its not in flower so my biggest suggestion is either get a scrog net or just start bending the taller ones to the outside if ur not going to top since its a auto get a bud clip and put it like the 4th or 5th node that will make her turn into a bush then u can use a trellis to open it up use tie downs if u cant get a net the bud sites are any of the new shoots so just look under the leaves u will se them being blocked
oh man. alright. its a but confusing but i think im getting the jist of it. do i tie down the main stem or just the outer ones? im just so worried about over stressing
So the main stem needs to be turned over and then u will get a bunch of new tops those u want to spread out so basically ur turning the plant sideways to the light now u have wide instead of tall they will come from both sides going up then u need to spread them out with a trellis the tie downs are just if u dont have a trellis oi found the best way is with a bud clip but u can just use a string and tie it to the pot ant go over the the top like the 4th node or 5th then pull it or just bend it over your finger if it bends easy thats where u want to bend it
alrighty. i may try that tomorrow morning. hopefully i can figure it out. all i got on my rn is some string and clips and some lst stakes. if i cant get it ima have to wait till i get some better stuff
Looking good. Told you youd get a lot of help! you dont really need to defol yet. in my opinion. just look at your plant. You only remove a leaf if it's in the way and you can't tuck it. right now you dont have a lot of leaves. And it's an autoflower. She looks good to me bro. she does. better than before, right ? you can pull a bottom leaf it's not getting ligjt. but lollipopping... you have time bro. don't over mother this girl.
yeah lol i live getting others opinions. and thank you. i dont wanna do too much or do anything uneccesary. ill just take my time and such
Bro I’m the same way lol , I haven’t defoliated at all during veg and I’m 2 weeks into flower in a couple days . I’m just gonna do big defoliation on day 21
Trimmed a couple leaves that were falling into the dirt. might remove some lower bud sights arent really getting light tomorrow morning. I also plan on watering tomorrow morning as the soil seemed dryish today. Should i give it more calmag? i did a couple days ago.
Over the last few days ive trimmed and lollipopped my plant a good bit. its holding up good and currently is about a foot tall. im wxpecting it to start flowering any day now!!
Today I watered and gave it a mix of Calmag, FloraMicro, FloraGro, and FloraBloom. i gave a little less than the reccomended, because its my first time feeding and idek if im doin it right lol. i think shes holding up good.
Now alls you need some bud ties or bones things to spread her apart. You could always use thin wire too jus don't put on her tight it will cut thru
Looking good. The label is what I go by. The ratios i mean. As long as you satisfy that recommendation, you're good. The ratios will keep you from having a nutrient Imbalance and your plant looks really good. Don't change up the ratio until your girl has stopped stretching. Just give her the same recipe every water. Be cautious at first and if you see bottom leaves yellowing. Up it a tad. She's looking really good!!!
I wouldn't go too crazy with nutrients besides the calmag. For right now like other dude said she looks healthy jus needs some calmag
My plants looking good. just moved some leaves around that were blocking so that all 9 budsites towards the canapy are able to get some light.
about to water with calmag
2 questions:
How should i position my clip fan?
Should i transplant into a proper 5 Gallon bag? rn its at 3
so far i been moving my fan up and keeping it from blowing directly at my plant but im starting to get closer to the light and im worried about proper air circulation in my tent. should i move it towards the bottom and have it blow up at my plant ?
do ya think its safe to transplant? im pretty worried about iver stressing. can it survive in a 3 gal?
yeah i moved it down and have it blowing at a slight upward angle towards the stems and it feels a lot better. thanks!
Probably be easier while soil is soft less root stress,I normally transplanted to their forever pot at 1 week lol
i wanted to start in 5 gal but stupid me only had 3 gals worth of soil and i was impatient and was like “it will be ight”.
She's fine. Don't over mother her and I'd leave her as she is. Are you backfilling the soil as you pull off bottom leaves? All you really need to do is unfold the edges and fill it as your soil compacts. Mix in some perlite if you have it. Id let her go at this point. Of course you can transplant and she'll be fine. But it will be stressful on you both. Sometimes we take it harder than they do.
I couldnt do much this morning cuz i was running late for work. i think my plant is doin good but i noticed 1 leaf towards the top that maybe had a small but of yellow. is this light burn ? should i lower my light?
Mine does that sometimes but once I fed mine with nutes it they bounce back in a few days if it get worse or doesn’t bounce back flush with good ph water then feed again after a couple of days
alrighty thanks. yeah indont really know how ften to feed. i was gonna give calmag tomorrow and maybe a bit of other nutes now that i see the yellowing. thanks for ur help
I usually do once to twice a week but if you look up the type of nutrients your using and either a feeding chart or feeding schedule I use fox farm and they have a feeding chart I go by
You're good bro. Damn look at her! Amended soil starter and bottle nutes! You may have a talent for this. If you see yellow at the bottom, but new growth is healthy, it just means the plant needs a bit more N (or raise your EC/tds a touch) . That's the appropriate move. If you see the new tops start to yellow, then back off a touch. How much headroom do you have?
I been saying my plants about to flower for like a week or two and it kinda hasnt done too much. how do i know when ive hit the flowering stage?
also these leaves have the tips turning yellow. whats weird is they are neither top nor bottom but rather towards the middle.
Get closer pics cant see pistils yet also ur tip burn is most certianly ph i have been fighting mine and not fixing it correctly till now im in dwc so it happens fast when it happens so check ur run off and get ur ph right itll be fine
damn i ph test my water every time but ive never tested run off. ima look into it. and ill get some better pics tomorrow. i think i saw some small white pistils. idk for sure
Yea the ph will go up and down as it goes i thought the same the soil acts as a buffer but if ur too low or too high u will get the tip burn but if its not in the top leaves u have corrected it enough to stop it check out the ai in here its in the tools section call plant dr its vool u can send it pics
I added cal mag in 3rd week of flower and i got tons of yellowing and burned tips so i checked my ph and it was 5.0 so i fixed it in the bucket dwc is 5.8 to 6.2 Heres what the ai said about the fix You made the right call stopping Cal- Mag addition if it's causing pH swings and yellowing. Stay on track with Farmer's Secret, keep that pH super stable close to 5.8, moderate your feeding strength, and the plant should stabilize and finish strong.
Look for white hairs (pistils) starting to show around the nodes I have some pics on my grow if you want to look
Once you actually “flip” from your veg cycle to flower it can take up to 10 days before you will actually start to see pistols forming on the actual bud sites check thecalyxes where the branches meet the main stem. That’s where you’ll see the first signs of development
Of course an just make sure your keeping a strict 12 12 or it could cause some issues I personally run 11 and 13 and most my crops are a week if not two early like clock work if your ever questioning sex do a 3 day trial run on a temp light flip and that’s generally long enough for the plant to trigger flower hormones or will show some nut sacks within a week of ur trial run just a lil tip so you don’t waste to much time on reg seeds if your not 💯 sure they fem
Its autoflowers right ? I don't see many pisitls if any yet but you will see them at the very top first. Now... When she does start... She's going to double, or triple in size. The stretch hasn't started yet. I thought it had bit I'm not seeing any flowers.. not yet. She will stretch for about 2weeks, and then she'll stop. You need to make sure you're feeding a good veg diet all through it. And when she stops. Switch to bloom. I swear you said it was an auto. You don't have to flip the light cycle for autos. Keep it at 18/6
fuck. im about to leave for my trip in a few days Lmao. yeah it is and auto and i thought i saw pistils but maybe im mistaken. will i just be using more of my bottle nutes ? is there any harm in me prepping water + nutes for my roomate so they can have it ready? like will nutes/water change if left sitting for a couple weeks g
i trimmed a couple leaves that were blocking sights. Im about to water and test run off ph as well as im worried about the slight yellow tipped leaves i mentioned prior. im hopin shes alright and will just continue growin. also i dont really know how often to be feeding. im thinkin like everyother water and im still going light with nutes. i dont want nutrient burn or to over do it.
Add some side bar lighting! They will thrive! I am growing Cinderella 99 right now in a 2x2 and it loves the side beams
oh ive never heard of that ? does lighting from the side make that much of a difference? ill for sure look into it! thank you
Absolutely! Check out my grow if you would like to see, I am running an S22 overhead and the S16 Ionbeams x4 both AC Infinity brand. It really helps penetrate the lower canopy.
I feed twice a week and I started once a week at a quarter strength the the next week half strength the 75% and started twice a week at 75% but I flushed every 4 to 5 weeks too just watch your leaves they will tell you what you need
Looking good man. You can start some lst at this point. Pull down some of the laterals and tie them to the edge of the bad with plastic ties. You know the ones like you wrap bread bags, but a lot longer. You can simply use string. But you need to pull open the middle to let air all through the plant.
will that be bad for my canopy? like make it uneven ? i see whatchu sayin. i could find something to make work
plant is looking good but i have a couple issues im worried about.
Lighting—
Im keeping my light <12” away. 12-18 but try to keep it closer to 12. my plant has been growing and its getting a bit too close to the light and i cant really move the light up much higher. should i dim it at all? i got a SF1000D
Absense—- im going on a trip for a couple weeks and ofc its right when shes flowering. i will be away from my plant from 8/4-8/17 and im stressin. i got my roomate who will be watering her and sending me photos. im trying to lay it out for them to keep things simple. I will also have them use my jewlers Loupe to look at Trichomes and im hoping i wont need anyone to harvest my plant for me 😅😂
all in all, she looks decent but im a bit scared for the future. Today I watered with standard ph tested water. trimmed a couple blocking leaves.
any tips and help are appreciated.
Get the spider farmer self watering system. It has 2 plates (like the one the pepper is on in the image I sent you earlier. 50L of water in that fucker and you'll be ok. As far as the light goes. Is she still stretching? Thats what you need to establish. And after that. Can you download that app that lets you measure your ppfd? Because thats really the only way to get the best results. she looks good. you'll get a nice harvest when we're done.
thats the thing. i thought my GGS Controller would give me a ppfd reading but it never has. should i invest in a seperate ppfd reader ? my budgets a bit tight but ill look into that auto watering thing. Idk if shes stretching. thh i never noticed a “stretch” it just kinda grew pretty consistantly idk lol
Yeh . The 1st 2 weeks or longer of flower they stretch to ensure they can pack on as much flower as possible. Some go 2x and I've had some go as much as 5x, but it's rare. I'd say you are still stretching a little, and that's when they will sneak up on the lighr. If you can download that phone one it's free I think. I bought one and don't regret it. But I can certainly understand a tight budget. If you only knew. As far as the water thing. You can build one. It's pretty simple. Set the pot on top of a large storage container and use a cotton or poly fiber absorbnt rope as your wick. the top will be used to support the plant. Drill 2 holes the width of your pot and a bit larger than the diameter of the rope. Soak the rope. Feed it into the holes so both ends are in the water/nutrients.... You will not use plain water. Set the pot on top of the wet rope to make the connection And the plant will do the rest. You probably have most of that shit laying around. If you can't measure the lights density it's just a guessing game. LEDs can fool you. But it's probably better to err on the side of less is better if you can't measure it. Too much will burn your tip fan leaves and you'll lose them all.
is it all from the app? like it senses from my camera ? cuz idk if i got a sensor lol. and thanks for DIY instructions. i may do that.
I have been incredibly busy lately and havent had much time to care for my plant. today im going to water with nutes and maybe trim some leaves if i have to. For a few days i have had my light dimmed. i used an app (ik not very reliable) to tell me my ppfd so my plant gets enough light wirhout burning.
thanks brodi. ill show it tomorrow but i just finished trimming leaves and pulling down the taller stems so my stems and canopy are all a pretty similar level. :)
Nice I’ve been doing mine like that too they went into flower so I’m starting on my final LST tomorrow I’m building supports and running a line through them so I can tie off to those (I wanted to long to try and put them in a net lol)
It looks good but trust me I did 60 hrs last week just got back to work after 2 years off . Gotta make time mine getting especially one of them getting 6 tall glasses of water ! Ye that's my trop cookies it's getting huge
I trimmed and did some LST with gardening wire. now my canopy is much more level. i was nervous cuz the main stem got snapped but someone said i just supercropped it on accident lol and its already growing upward again.
im going out of town tomorrow for almost two weeks. i am nervous but im going to water tomorrow and also have 6 water containers prepped and ph tested for my roomate. Im hoping at the very least that my plant will survive.
I just flew back into town after 2 weeks. my room mate kept my plant alive but its a bit beat up.
I see some light burn and it also had watering issues that apparently almost killed it.
The inportant thing is that its alive and i can tend to it again.
i turned down my light a bit
Should i defoliate ? im worried about the plant which is already struggling and dont want to introduce more stress.
What happened with the watering? How have you/y'all been feeding her? Nutrients all the time? Or alternating nutes and water? You need to test your run off. if she hasn't been fed, I'd just feed her till you see runoff, then add a little more. Collect the second bit and test that. The first bit will be too salty so you need to let that pass and collect the next bit. Test the EC/ppm and the pH. This is important. It will tell you what to do next.
oh man that sounds conplicated but ill give it a shot. Yeah i shouldnt have trusted this person with my plant. she forgot to water it for a couple days and didnt tell me when my plant was struggling. i havent fed it in a while but will tomorrow. I will attempt some of that stuff tomorrow as well however im super busy. at the very least i will feed and water her. should i defoliate ? also im wordied about my light. theres burn on the leaves and i cant raise it any more. i just dimmed it a bit more
It's not that hard bro. But when I tell you it's important, I'm not kidding. It's really the ONLY way to know what's going on, and should be done every few weeks. Especially if she is looking off. Mix up the nutrients, and feed. When you see run off. Stop and let her stop. Now that you have wet the substrate enough to get runoff the next bit you feed will go straight through. Collect about 1/2 cup and test it. Hopefully your pH is ok. But I'll bet you your EC is over 3.0. especially if you've never flushed her yet. Which is another thing you need to do when you feed salts. There is a certain amount of plant husbandry that goes with growing. You have to take care of them. right now I'm in cruise control but there have been multiple days per week when I have had to spend hours fixing issues. it's just part of the game.
Damn Alrighty. Thanks for the tips. ill check her out tomorrow morning. i dont even know what EC is but ill do some research and fix her up. hopefully i can get her right !! im just glad shes not dead after these 2 weeks
Electric conductivity. It's a measure of how salty the run off is. If you have a tds meter that measures ppm. That's the same, it's just a different measurement. EC is easier to follow for me but some people like TDS/ppm. Anyway. It will tell you whats going on. By knowing the pH and the salt level.of your rootzone, you can solve pretty much any issue. If I see something off, They are the first things I check.
I'd say, it's safe to push some pure water through her. She probably has build up. So if you never have, just push water through her for now, check the pH, and then come back and check the EC/ppm when you get one. They are like $20
Dirty South is correct, you need to be aiming for 15-20% run off and testing the EC. I test pH and EC before the feed and test the run off EC to see what left the medium VS what stayed. It sounds complicated but once you look into it a little you will see it's fairly easy. Nice plant!
My plant is still not doin great but its getting better. I fed and watered yesterday and this morning i noticed more of a smell (i think thats good lol) and it is just starting to look a little better. I trained the tallest branches down a bit so the canopy is even and now the branches are spread wall to wall for better lighting and airflow.
Now that they are slightly further from the light, i may increase my light. its only running about 68% and i wanna make aure they are getting all the energy they need while not burning.
Thank you! ive had some hiccups but just trying to learn from it. take it easy and im sure you will do great
Yup exactly what I’ve been doing. I have MS and both my hands are pretty weak so I’ve dropped too many pots… but luckily they have recovered well thus far. Phew. lol but I’m a persistent little bugga lol Never give up instead rest and take a breather before you do something wrong that’s my philosophy 😆
the smell means the buds are getting closer to the light an terps are gassing off jus a headsup. Sometimes that's a bad thing🤫🤨🤘🤣😑
these are my photos so far up till Today Day 24
Sweet
Looks healthy great 👍
