Grow Timeline (23 updates)
hoping now my vpd is within range that these girls will start growing quicker. currently on week 3 of veg. I am currently giving them 17k lux. didn’t feel like converting to ppfd. seeing lots of purple stems :( i almost forgot i started 7 more with almost 100% success rate. I germinated them using the paper towel method with tap water for 1 night. dropped them into soil in a tray the very next day. only took 2 days for their heads to pop up. 2 are Grease Monkey and the other 5 were random bag seeds as well. they are receiving 4K lux under same light.
In the starting tray I believe I will keep the two shorter thicker ones. Both other plants are responding well to the compost tea I made for them a day or two ago. I’ve finally figured out how to dial in the VPD for this new room here. The soil is drying up nicely for the bigger plant. The smaller one isn’t drinking quite as fast. Will water the one on the left tomorrow at 6.5 ph.
Now I’m finally getting a response from these ladies I’d say my ppm for the compost tea was a little high. I thought I’d be ok around 550 ppm. Any who, they are growing at a decent pace now that the environment is under control. Will probably just water at 6.5 for now. I’m thinking 3 more weeks to fill the space and flip. I know they will double in size throughout the stretch.
Everything is looking much better. waiting for the little ones to get big enough to flip before I do. The ones in the starting tray are just for speed run. Big one is showing mag deficiency I think.
If you want to train your plants with bending, use silica, helps prevent snapping, makes stems more flexible.
doesn’t really seem like these girls are doing too much. I top dressed with dolemite lime to address the magnesium deficiency. Scratched in around 10 TBSP per container and watered in 1.5 Quarts of 6.5 ph water each. I’ve pretty much left the little girls alone other than watering 10-20 mL a day at 6.5 ph. I’m thinking two more weeks and then I will flip them. I will be top dressing again next week.
They look nice and healthy to me
they are getting there for sure. I’ve made quite a few mistakes and it’s painfully slow growing.
If your growth is slowed it is more than likely a VPD problem. I run my veg at .6 VPD. 85 degrees and 80-90% humidity. until a week before I flip.
I agree with @Six about it being a VPD issue most likely however I feel .6 is a bit low for later veg. some plants will like different environments also... I felt installed out at one point and I increased my VPD to .8 then up to 1.0 slowly. If the plant cant dissipate moisture because the environment is to moist growth will slow... Just start playing with the numbers a bit, I loved my AC infinity controller 69pro for this... I can just sit in bed and watch TV while playing with things and watching the numbers. Then check to see what it did the next day. From what ive read: VPD .8 and lower for clones and seedlings VPD .8-1.0 for veg VPD 1.0-1.2 for flower approximately. overall they look healthy though!
I’ve been trying to keep it around .8 kpa. It’s in a 4x6 room I built in my basement. I keep a humidifier and a small space heater in there but it’s kind of hard to control that 100% of the time not being home. I asked six to send me the vpd chart he uses and will check again when I get home this evening. thanks for your help! I’m eager for these ladies to start flowering but don’t want to go into it on a bad foot. They have almost filled the footprint now so I believe it is close to time for flip.
yeah I think you just gotta wait... 0.8 should be good. I looked this up online for ya "compared to the soil, the plant's leaves suck their moisture directly from the air, so when the air is not humid enough, the symptoms are often the first to show up on the leaves. When plant leaves begin to discolor and dry out from the edges or tips, then it’s probably facing the low humidity issue. Besides, the leaves of some plants that face the low humidity issue will curl downward or inward, while the leaves of the plants that are in low soil moisture issue will curl upward. This is also a very big difference."
These ladies are filling out nicely. I’m tempted to flip by the end of the week. what do you think? Had to add Dolemite lime to address the mag deficiency. Lights are at 16 inches. 450 ppfd. Watering when light. I’m afraid if I wait too long I’ll run out of space.
how tall is your grow space? that's going to be your limiting factor but you seem to have your plant trained low so it may not be too much of an issue for you
oh yeah they are about 14-16 inches in height. I’ve got plenty head space but only 4x4 to fill.
you've done a great job keeping them low and spread. I'd go a little longer, you can still see the floor🤣
I’m at least going to top the little ones a time or two before I do switch the light schedule. I’ve definitely made a few mistakes tying them down. Shit happens and you learn. This is a long long veg time for these girlies.
Today makes one week since I flipped them. They are stretching and drinking like crazy! One top had broken overnight which sucks but I didn’t catch it until the next day. Getting watered in small amounts everyday to every other day depending. They are receiving roughly 980 ppfd. Room temp is 80-85 degrees and rh is 45-55%. Added bigger fan for canopy. Overall happy and ready to start seeing buds stack.
Monday marked the end of the stretch and now pistol hairs welcome us in the beginning stages of flower. I can honestly say that I love growing cannabis. It helps me in ways I never thought it would. My mental is much better these days since I started growing again and now I feel as if I’ve just started living again. Thank you cannabis for pulling me out my hole.
wish I could say the same about my skunk... she still stretching week 4... 😂 I'm gonna have to tie her to the rafters before long. They look good! Keep it up.
thanks brother! hopefully she’ll slow down for ya and just stack and swell! I’m so excited for my next run they just popped their heads up today!
Tied everything down again in efforts to fix the uneven canopy. Seems like they’re taking it alright. Buds are forming nicely and plants are drinking quite a bit of water each day. Roughly a gallon each day. I’m sure the environment is helping dry back quick.
Everything is moving along as expected. Have been watering everyday until I have run off. I’m planning on top dressing with 4-8-4 DTE dry nutes about halfway through week 3. It’s just a waiting game honestly at this point. The lung room is beginning to smell a bit.
forgot to mention I added co2 this week
Just watering and making sure everything is getting proper light. I’m up shit creek without a paddle. I’m out of smoke… lol
damn. about time to hit up the plug lol. I hate when I run out and have to buy dispo trash
I know right! ahaha
I guess this is week 4. top dressed yesterday with 2tbsp of down to earth 4-8-4 per gallon. .5 gram of calcium and .5 gram of potash with magnesium each container. Have been watering steady every day 2 quart jn the morning and 1 quart at night 2 hrs before night time. Always at a ph of 6.5. All three ladies are looking pretty good.
oooo that second photo is art
thanks man
Waiting around for these ladies to finish. Time is moving slower than ever. All three ladies are stacking nicely and smelling amazing. One is giving me issues but that’s ok. I’m used to it. lol
what size pots do you use? and how many rounds have you done this what is your average yield with those size pots and the training regiment you're using?
first real run with decent lights in 10 years. 5 gallon pots. I topped a couple times and mostly lst. organic living soil
the yellowish one has gotten some compost tea in effort to fix whatever is going on. The rest look good. Seems like one is way behind the other two. Just watering at 6.5 every other day. The tiny nug was a test to see if I could successfully root a clone. I’d say it was a success and it’s so cute. aha
another week or cut them now?
am no expert but another week no harm then check again.but looking as if there getting to that stage
oh yeah it’s definitely close
my trichomes are at the SAME EXACT stage. I'm going through this dilemma also lol. I'm gonna wait another week then chop.
yeah man I’ve decided the same lol I hope everything is going well your way!! This run was a practice run and next run will be way better. I’m ready to start the new one already!!
yea me too lol. I'm browsing seed banks to see what I'm gonna do next. I might go with that fast buds site or mephisto.
I’ve been eyeballing sweet seeds on North Atlantic seed company lol I could go broke shopping for beans.
that's a hard one because you don't wanna wait to long it will take away potency ,,1 and 2 a good rule of thumb is what ever you are going to do to it wait a week.l so on that not I'd do like 3 or 4 days max .You're heads are milky and looking good tho.
wait till amber to get full potential. or I would. But that's was probly then and by now there probly done all the way by now . lol
yeah man they are hanging drying right now. I can’t freaking wait to see what it’s going to be like after cure. These were some random bag seeds I’ve collected over my eight year break. I got lucky with one of these for sure. the aroma is amazing. my entire house smelled like candy
at least that’s what my wife said lol
ordered new spider farmer ggs controller with the 6 liter humidifier,6 inch exhaust fan and the 6 inch oscillating fan. hopefully I can get the controller, exhaust fan, and the humidifier hooked up before I have to chop.
The past couple years have been incredibly slow for work. I’ve been eye balling all the new spider farmer ggs equipment since it dropped. I finally have the humidifier and a fan. Just waiting for my exhaust fan and controller.
Just watering everyday or every other day depending on what she wants. Had to move her into a tent so I could dry the other two. I could be much happier with the yields but it’ll be better next time and every other time after that. This was a good first run getting back into it after 8 years. Hopefully this one is heavy and finishes out strong!!
VPD can be pain . my tent in garage so that my lung room & now temps going up with the humidity getting high . I’ll be growing outside after this run
yes sir my entire basement is my lung room but I keep it at 60%rh and it helps a lot. Thus is my first time in this room and first time with these sf-2000 lights. There’s a hell of a learning curve going rn.
