Grow Timeline (4 updates)
Today marks day 1 of the journey to a better grow! One of the two seeds I originally attempted to germinate not sprouting. I started the second seed two days later, which is why there is no visible growth on the right side. I expect to see that one pop Thursday, Friday at the latest.
Things are going slow, but they are progressing. This is my second attempt at DWC, so it's fine. For now.. lol
If anyone has tips on insulating the buckets, I'm all ears!
nice setup. I did the same thing to insulate mine... it's a bit tough but I just taped onesie to the bin, wrapped it around and pulled tight pushing the insulation into any spots it was hung up on... then taped it to itself. what kind of water temps are you dealing with?
haha I see the temp gauges now 🤣 looks like 66 and 68 degree Fahrenheit... from my research 64-71 or for me over here in Canada 18-22 degree Celsius is the goal... ive been adding a frozen jug per day to maintain around 18/19 degree water
Today I confirmed the taproot of both plants have descended into the water. Everything is looking good!
I moved the lights up and increased the intensity. Previously the light was on 10%, 18" high, with a ppfd of about 200. now it's at 50%, 32" high, with a ppfd of about 250. I made this change in hopes of raising the temp in the tent, so I can lower the temp in the room it's in, hoping that will lower my water temps in the insulated buckets with cooler air coming in through the air pump. It's hovering around 70°f before the change, and I'm hoping to see it drop to 68°f.
Today I swapped nutrients to veg. Both girls have roots in the water, and everything is looking good! I'll know within a few days if this will be my first successful DWC grow, or a failure like my first attempt. I've replaced the air stones since then (so the water is getting much more oxygen), and the insulation on the buckets is dialed in (so the water stays under 70°f), so I'm confident things will go well.
