Grow Timeline (31 updates)
these girls lookin a little pale to me. kinda yellowish. time for nutrients?
yup, π
how can a plant that small need nutes already. The soil should hold enough nutes for that thing to root it out. Transplant it in a larger pot with new soil and leave it alone.
ok buddy π
I am a living soil organic gardener with almost 30 years experience. A well amended soil, initial nutes charge will last long enough to get that plant rooted and healthy. I transfer to 5 gallon pots and don't feed for almost a month. Plants grow like crazy and are well fed. I use Ocean Forest as a base.
awesome, but his soil isnβt doing that. furthermore you donβt know his set up maybe not enough room to upsize. you should know not to transfer when stressed.
I've never had a seedling get stressed.... Its the easiest stage of growth to manage. Light required isn't high and the soil can't be too hot of a mix. Temps are in the 80s and humidity is 60 or better. At this point all he should be doing is watching that thing get big. Adding nutes in soil at this point in its growth is stupid. If he was in rock wool or Coco I'd say feed them. Coco leeches cal mag so you really have to feed it in that media.
I'm not an expert, but with the dirt I've been using for like forever, is that Light Warrior seed starting mix? or any seed starting mix? Light Warrior and some others are very nutrient weak. Specifically not to burn out the seedlings. If that is the case, I would definitely start a weak feed. With the Nutes I use, I usually stay in a seedling mix for a month, with a touch extra sweetener for microbe happiness, saturating the top half inch of soil before switching to a pH balanced water with a light sprinkle of Silicon Dioxide, lab or food grade powder. and a top dress of a couple pinches of powdered Dolomite Lime, this will take a little bit to break down into the soil to give the plants the needed CalMag. All while the Happy Frog top, and Ocean Forest bottom handle the heavy lifting after transplant for the first month. Then I begin to ramp up my Feed, though I am running Autoflowers, so I am usually switching to the Bloom formula by then. I have switched from 5gal bags on this grow to 7 I will find out if it was worth it or to stay in the 5 gals...
Probably time to graduate out of seedling mode.
Transplanted and moved 4 outdoors. Doin good. Late starter now doing best.
Other one is in the tent. It was the worst of the five 2 days ago. Transplanted to small pot coco. Recovering, I hope.
Blu/Red was ready for sure. The rest, should be ok. Dunno about being in the sun this time though. We shall see. Top of blu/red was long. Its in some dirt. See how that goes. π€
just shade the plant for awhile & u be ok .
ππ» yeah, they're fine. The top off blu/red drooped at first, now has straightened up.
They seem to be growing well enough, but 3 of them have either started pushing out leaves super rigorously, or they're deformed. Another day or two will tell. Looks like they're just trying to grow too fast to me. lol blk/grn most prominent. It is growing much better than the others, I hope they catch up.
the weird looking ones look very much like they are going to be males.
Well, I have no idea, but I hope you're wrong. π«°
hate to say it but the one in the red bucket has balls, under bottom leaf you can see it dangling looks like you have 2 male plants, sorry
Ok. So its lookin like 1 out of 5 female. Grrrrr...
Turned out to be 3male 2female. all of them outside. trimmed off the pollen sacs. experiment to see how long before they wilt. been about 1.5wks. another im watering with city water. another is getting same nutrients as girls but just dumped in. girls happy boys not so much. lol
The bright side being if pollinated you wouldnβt have to buy seeds for a while lol
lol. yeah. im goin out of town for july/August. Im gonna consider this the wife's grow. lol. see how she does. me, the newb, coaching a first timer. maybe i should rethink, she may want a divorce at the end. π π€£ π
2 female out of 5. Both outside. Becky & grn/blk gecko. Becky in coco Grn/blk in soil. Topped Becky & trying to start a clone, Becky Jr. will be also coco. Becky Jr. in tent lookin ok, hopefully rooting. Watering all about 75% strength wk 7 fox farms trio.
Switched to Jacks 321 @40% and transplanted to 3gal fabric. Water for both outside. Becky Jr. in the tent doing ok I think. Been 6days or so. No roots showing in cup yet. Light @14900
Watering in coco, fabric pots, outside, atleast twice a day. Yeah, auto irrigation was in order. π Hopefully this works out.
Any advice/info/heads ups are greatly appreciated. Last auto watering setup ended up with 5gal H2o in the bottom of my tent.
dude!!! when did you flood your tent!!!!π± as big of reservoir as you can fit. aerate it, and a syphon break at the top of the feed line, unless resi is lower than tent for syphon break: feed tube comes up and out of resi at the top. at highest point put one of these one way check valves that come with our air pumps, you know, the ones no one uses lol. drill a small hole in the feed line and stick the air check valve into it so that air can suck into the tube, but water can't push out.
if you need better description I can send you a pick
last grow. girls were elevated. i considered it a flush and cleaned up. lol i had one of those check valves on it! guess i had it installed wrong. ill try that trick in the future if necessary
bucket is lower for now.
if your resi has a lid you can also just put a hole w no check valve as long as your pump is strong enough it'll still get water to the plants. this method also kinda sketchy. can make a mess real quick. once I had lid off and was checking pH of resi, timer kicked pump on and I think I drank more fertilizer than the plants that day lol

these little white spots have been there for a week or so. spots not everywhere. just a few of the leaves. she sits next to stucco wind blows her leaves against stucco. growing well no issuse aside from random spots. anything to worry about?
My outdoor has some spotting like this too. At first I thought it was the dirt I accidentally got on my leaves but then they just sort of stayed. I'm planning on pruning them off when I can
thanks
amazing how they grow so much faster when you dont see them everyday! π did a little bending and trimming. see you next week girls!
cute pup :-)
Thanks. I think she likes their smell. my guard beagle. ππ€£ππ½

What is it anyone?
It looks like a Helicoverpa zea, commonly known as the Corn Earworm π Im no expert though just did a little searching. I hope you can get it resolved my friend.
Those guys usually cause bud rot, so check the girls extra good from now on.
thanks

yeah did you spot the caterpillar?
I did.....in pic 5 is that some sort of egg sack or just random detritus?
lol.. pic 5. i think youre seeing the burned tip of a big leaf that got cut. caterpillar in pic 1
yeah caterpillar is in 1 . in pic 5 there is some round brown thing that looks like it's attached to the underside of the petiole at bottom middle left of photo
since caterpillar invasion ive been focusing on them. gecko and clone doin ok. gecko starting to go yellow. clone lookin good just seems slow. its cloned off the top of caterpillar girl. probably catchin up?

Thats it. I submit.. lol
chopped them, trimmed them, and hung with care. right after i shook the shit out of them again. lol when shaking throughout the trim, only 2 fell off. only 2? lol becky and clone look good minus chewed up spots. gecko went yellow pretty good in the tent. only saw one caterpillar on her. 1? lol flowers never really popped. i dunno. mostly wasnt here for veg and half of flower. im not sad..
lets see what the "Eater of the Poison Rainbow" has left behind when all is said and done.

π€£
ohhhh I'm excited!!!!
ππππ»
#5 popped. may need some help.
you got this. this is the easy part, they're still small. now if all 5 are female..... then you may run into some space issues...lol
Thanks @Glitch. Would be a bit scrunched in, but I'm stealing a page from @Poyal_Rines book, and gifting what wont fit. ππ One maybe two will stay
hell yeah, share the love!!! get someone else hooked on growing!!!!
