Grow Timeline (51 updates)
So I got the old soil from my last grow from a bag seed sitting in the bottom left, pulled out the old roots. top right is the new pot (following HWGs guide) with an inch of perlite at the bottom.
next we have a slurry mix sitting for tomorrow, going to do a pH and PPM reading tomorrow and tranfering the seed to a paper towel after.
- Removed seed from distilled water, placed in papertowel.
-Set the tent heater thermostat at 75 degrees and placed the seed (in towel) on top of the soil next to the heater probe. closed the tent to block light.
- pulled slurry mix and checked pH and PPM/EC. Soil is not ideal for planting currently, going to reorder soil, and in the meantime flush this one wit 6.5ph water, checking the runoff until the pH and ppm/EC are at the right levels.
update, bought new soil instead
Got some solid advice from SIX on this soil combo. updates to come.
other than that, the pot with the least amount of soil, I’m considering possibly a second plant, not sure though because of lighting. but I’m working with a 32x32x63 tent and a 150w light so probably not a good idea ??
count your wattage from the was per square feet im not saying its correct math but remember if they get big bro your going to need more light I use in my 3 x3 by 5 aglex 330 and idk if I can fit anymore on the walls without loosing space lol
what soil is it BTW
Espoma organic seed starter /perlite mix for the top 1/3 and the bottom is just fox farm happy frog / perlite mix.
yea that’s the one thing I didn’t take into consideration much when buying the growth tent kit. it came with a vivosun A150SE, 2 plants wouldn’t be ideal I assume. just the one??
I think u be just fine bro I've grown outdoors in bad soil and got decent yield with less stuff
removed humidity dome, tent environment set. misted around the sprout.
-Added more pictures through out the day
everyone does it different but I keep mines in and slowly open it up so it dont get shocked or stressed
my plants are around same age
I didn’t even take that into consideration, I probably should have now that you mention it lol. I guess I’ll keep an eye on it.
rite on bro yeah ill post up some stuff later im doing 3 different grow set ups rite now to see how my environment is in areas in my house 2 grow tents and one small room for seedlings to start in
Just started following, this is my first grow so I’m trying to soak in all the info.
I've grown before studied for years on things first real grow was this year out doors and I did better then last year I fixed my water problem after that didint have as many problems indoors bit more tricky but once set up and u got a good thing going its like set n forget lol I got about 6 plants going so will see was up
what was the water problem? and I think I’ve got the environment dialed in, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to harvest some good quality bud with this first grow.
what was the water problem? and I think I’ve got the environment dialed in, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to harvest some good quality bud with this first grow.
soil around the seedling was dry, used my mist spray bottle to moisten the soil around the seedling.
-Update, seed started to stretch and grow, my iPhones PPFD reading might be off or something, going to adjust the light but I had to put in a stick and soft tie it to support the stem. light intensity increased from 60% to 80% using the VIVOSUN A150SE at 19” from the canopy.
note the one cotyledon is bending downward. I am wondering if this is a stress response from me removing the dome immediately after it sprouted. I put the humidity dome back on.
how many days ? an mine did that a lil I don't think it's sum to worry about jus throw some light on her
day 2 since sprouting, notice it was starting to lean also….
huh stress what it sounds like some plants you can't let dry out all the way or they stress an herm learned that the hard way
someone told me it wasn’t ideal to take my humidity dome off immediately after sprouting, I’m beginning to think that’s why
I did the same for one that stretched so makes sense
other two I have I left in some till leaves folded out or pretty close
so I should be good long as I keep the dome on ?
you can shouldn't hurt jus make sure light not up too high baking it in there
I got it about 19” from canopy. close to 300 ppfd
that gucci
Thanks for the help 🤝
no problem I've noticed only a select few on here have time too explain or help so idc
sad to say it but you are right a Lil bit on not too many being able to help much... for most of us we don't have the hang of things to really give sound advice yet and for others the app is more or less just to keep track of their own grow... to each his/her own but the help is greatly appreciated
All in all, pulling in information from the web, books and communities like this make us easier to grow. before this page I strictly was on YouTube and HowWeedGrow.com which was great but there’s no many different techniques and tried methods, started to figure out what works and doesn’t. etc.
Also used foliar spray with CalMag at 6.2 pH and 235 ppm.
watered the 5 gal pots with ph 6.2 water, and filled the reservoirs for the wicks in plant saucer.
she looks happy 👊
yesiir thanks for the Foliar spray tip. popped the humidity dome right before lights off. woke up and she stopped leaning and seems to be straightening out too.
their stems dry out if humidity it’s high and fall over. that’s why I only spray them until they have bigger leaves. just keeping the top of soil moist is key.
that’s the one thing, I think the soil for the top layer drys out quickly. I’m trying to figure out the frequency of it dryin, might make a log book.
🙏🏽🙏🏽
Is it possible for you to turn up the lights a bit? the pale green color usually a sign she needs more light. 300-400 Ppfd.
updated: The pale look might be due to the filter in the video, but I uploaded a picture just now to reference. It was previously at 65% intensity, my phone read 340 ppfd had that for a week, I just tuned it to 70% today, it’s saying 450 on my phone. Should I go higher? 🤔
no that’s good where its at. my camera is like that too. just looking out for you. 👊
I appreciate it as always for sure, I was ready to adjust 😂
can’t wait to post weekly time lapses
be careful of the IR light if it has one. it’s like a spot light at night for them, it may mess up flowering if it’s on. just looking out also recommend more light she wants to go!
i didn’t even know that, It’s the VIVOSUN growcam 4 which supposedly is plant night time friendly as far as the lights. just looked it up to be sure.
then you should be fine I have a Ir yard light, pitch black until you look at camera and the entire yard is lit up at night so that’s what made me think to tell you.
imma check that outside the tent then, if I can see the ir light, that’s a nogo huh?
not the best for them.
gotcha. thankfully there is an option in settings to turn night vision off
Hydrophobic soil maintenance before feeding in a couple days.
made sure not to suffocate the soil with the straw, light layer, I cut them up into smaller pieces so it can fit around her. misted the straw slightly also, 1” diameter around the stem is open as well for oxygen flow.
defoliated the first node and auxiliary because I noticed drooping, fan leaves above were blocking light to the first node. Removed so it can focus growth up top.
misted the top layer a bit and fluffed up the soil to get it evenly moist, put wheat straw over to keep the soil moist for feeding.
looks good bud 👍
Thanky you, still dealing with hydrophobic soil, I got the straw to help but we’ll see. bottom fed today. and top fed with it running out the side lol
watered her and measured the runoff. Did some LST training as well.
Hope the low stress training training works well!
I hope so too, I was waiting on my trellis net for a month, thing got lost in the mail, had to use plant twist ties.
Dude the mail is the worst. I’ve had so many packages push off doing things because they’re late. I personally prefer to do both twist ties and then move them into a trellis when they get a little bigger.
I’m learning the hard way with the mail, and that’s the exact plan I was gonnna do, teist ties and then move them into the trellis
Fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Big note. Trying to dial in the ppfd and I came to the conclusion. LST training isn’t for my light. The canopy stretches outside my lights range. And it’s not powerful enough to deliver the ppfd needed without being 100% intensity with the light hovering ~14” above canopy.
Looking into an upgrade on that in the future, hard to get a nice one with a 32”x32” tent that works with the growhub.
which light is that?
This little VIVOSUN a150se that I wish I never bought because it’s not not able to give proper lighting evenly on my one friggin plant lol
that's why I'm asking Wana stay away from problems or waste of mula with lights thank you on the info brodo
Rotating the plant a quarter turn, every other day, can help. I had to do that for awhile until I was able to get better lights
Gotcha, yea I’m eyeing a mars hydro fc that’ll fit my tent perfectly. Gotta make that a next pick up for sure.
One of my pH bottles fell and smacked my fan leaf on the first node set.. lol. Fell off a shelf, other than that, I can see what I think are pistils emerging. Wondering if I should feed it nutrients or not. Might do a flush this round and see what the runoff is like before watering.
Edit: I was in the middle of removing the other 5 gal pot out the tent to grow some normal herbs and stuff for the house and the heater is not blasting my plant, and has been moved 😂 I peeped the heater after the fact.
Ok, some growth last night, I’m starting to understand the anatomy of this plant as it develops helping me train the branches further before my trellis arrives.
Update: trellis installed.
Keep in mind that my VPD is targeting leaf not air VPD, so for example, I’m targeting a VPD of 1.4 which on my GrubHub will show as 1.6.
Noticed 6 of the bud sites were growing higher than the center, light coverage is for about 2x2 of space and so far the plant is within that range so I can’t bend outward anymore. So I thought, why not bend the counter clockwise to stay within that parameter. Let’s see how she turns out!
Keep doing lst till the end of her stretch. You can tell she's done stretching when you can bend the branches anymore which is around week 2-3. Good work! I enjoy a good training session 💪🏿
Thank you for that! I was thinking about that, wondering how long this would go on before it stopped stretching and start producing calyces
No problem! Yeah usually the first 21 days is the plants stretch phase depending on the strain. And you should see it budding up soon from the looks of it. I bet she stretches more tho 🫣
I knew she’d be thirsty by today, that’s been the pattern. But I had work so she to be thirsty for a while 😅 dropped 2 L of nutes in there, let’s see what the next 12-24 hours bring.
Defoliated the lower half fan leaves not getting light or was touching soil and in the process of dying off. Watered her because she’s been drinking excessively, every other day it seems she’s noticeably light.
Watered her today, but this time I think I’ve done it correctly as far as nutrients. Lots of things I learned over the last few days as I stayed away from the tent and let it grow.
- I treated my Auto grow as if it were a photo.
Which may have hurt yield, only time will tell.
- nutrients, I made the mistake of feeding her the full fox farm trio, not taking into consideration that the trio is meant for soil, other than happy frog. Which explained every new growth developing slight nutrient burn. The only thing I fed this time was what was on the happy frog feeding chart, stuff that I have. Big bloom and CALiMAGic, so we will see how this goes. I believe I spot some calmag deficiency but I’m not sure. I’ll give this plant a few days since I gave it 1 gal. I test led runoff and I am high on the EC which is expected since I was feeding it tiger bloom and grow big which is most likely already amended in the soil. Until next time.
What’s up growmigos! So I’m considering cupping, but I think I’ll wait until I’m more Clear headed sine I’ve been testing my mental capacity. I’ve been off my ADHD meds for about 2 weeks because I wanted to see the difference. Let me just say…. Man… it’s been rough. Pine was neglected somewhat because I couldn’t get myself organized enough. Still deciding when to chop, might be today. Gonna meditate on it 😂
Good to hear that shit is poison unless you can't control the ADHD yourself then you gota do what u gota do
I haven’t figured that out yet, I got off it to see if it was working, and I sure as hell know it was now 😂😂
So, I did clip a small thin branch of smalls, weighing about 1.09g. I put it in a jar overnight to do a final dry, and then I’ll test it again. Yes, again, that .09? Bong ripped lol. Tasted like ass, but I swear, not one bud from the dispensary made me this high and I’m a chronic smoker, I don’t way to to get too hype now, but boy…. I like this feeling lol. Thanks Pine, you did right by me 😂🍃
Note, these are popcorn nugs from a branch off the 1st node, that wasn’t getting enough light. I can only imagine what the main colas will produce.
I just finished my first grow and I can say from experience now. Save those trimmings !!!! Once you harvest and you trim those crystally small leaves off the buds save it all. Let it dry out then throw it in a jar for a couple days. You can smoke that to. It won't taste good but I got high AF off mine. You can also make dabs or canna butter out of it 🫡
Shit, I was definitely thinking of saving them for sure, just didn’t know what to do after. You just gave me some ideas lol, thank you growmigo! 😂
No problem growmie. I would study the process of making the dabs and stuff before you try it out but it seems pretty simple. I ended up smoking most of mine tho 😅 waiting on my buds to cure.
😂😂 man hats to you, I couldn’t, i need to taste Le Terps
Really suck at this trim thing, no bag appeal over here lol. Harvested about 2.2 oz.
As long as it smokes!
If it for yourself it doesn’t matter . If u plan on storing it , better to leave some sugar leaves on till u ready to smoke . This will help preserve & protect the trichromes. If u giving it to friends for free then they can trim it themselves.
I have a specific taste, but all is well. It’s Jared with RH packs and I’m burping them. Sloooooww roast.
Overall I got roughly 2.2oz out of the shit show of a first grow lol. Buds smell like straight up pine, buds are small but dense somewhat. So some pre trim pre cure shots and after shots including. Not a fan of this strain, but love the potency for sure.
If that's your first grow I'd be stoked with those buds. Way better than I managed. Nowhere to go but up now brother.
Hell yea ! My first joint of this was something special, first time for my first grow. And it’s hittin lol. My cure and dry coulda been better though, it’s not as loud, but loud enough. Appreciate the comment growmie, I got my next grow going and I’m hype so far how it’s going.
Nothing like a good hit from your own grown. Hoping for better with my grow. If I can land some buds like yours, booya. Whats uo next?
This community is one of the reasons I was able to finish the grow to be honest, lots of great knowledge and cool people in here willing to help. I also used a lot of ChatGPT and YouTube lol. You got this grow ! I went in blind.
Always tried to stay away from pine and lemon strains😉
Yea pine is a acquired taste, definitely new and unique to the dispensary and street bud for sure lol but it just taste and smells “different”. lol. Again, could be my cure and dry that hasn’t unlocked the true potential or genetics or my process throughout the grow. I also didn’t have time to flush because I didn’t know how far along in flower I was lol. So yea. It’s getting more strong in smell as I open the jar daily, but yea. Looking forward to smelling other strains.
Right hey atleast you got sum smoke now!!
Hell yea. I got a 1g blunt ready to spark up after I leave the shop I’m at lol.
why do you put an inch of perlite at the bottom?
I’m betting most of it floats to the top.
layer of perlite at the bottom of soil to provide a buffer against overwatering since roots won’t grow in it. since this is my first actual grow, I figured it was a good trick to follow from “how weed grow” YouTube.
I can see why you’d think that, but I’m not planting a seed and watering perlite only 😂
ummmm roots do grow in perlite. there are semi hydro methods that use perlite as its media. perlite is what I use to propagate many of my plants. on a whole separate note when you put a different media in the bottom of planters, whether it is rocks or clay chips or in your case perlite all it does is essentially make your pot smaller but changing the flood zone (for lack of better words). water will run through the soil and then hit that different media and pool there instead of the bottom of your pot. you can prevent overwatering by reducing the frequency that you water. the amount of water you are putting in (for overwater situations) doesn't matter. you can put 100 gallons in and as long as you wait until your soil is dry before watering another 100 gallons you'll be fine. water isn't the problem. I grow in water. lack of oxygen is the issue. consistently wet soil will starve your roots of oxygen. just my thoughts on it.
interesting, this is good to know. I’m getting conflicting info on this. This guy YouTube page I follow does this when he’s prepping his soil, figured that was the way to go, his expiration made sense but I’m new so I don’t know much. still learning. edit: further research, you all are right. perlite or anything at the bottom is a myth, does more harm then good. good thing I didn’t put anything on top.
there is 1000 ways to grow a plant and everyone says theirs is the best. I'm sure the yt guy grows great plants, but scientifically that's not the reason why. you're just starting out, my advice, keep it simple. take it slow. start with one plant. just try to keep it alive through harvest. don't try and push it to the extremes. it took me years to realize less is more. it's so much easier to deal with a deficiency than a toxicity or a lock out. if you are pushing the plant to the max, things go sideways quick. I mean this in the kindest way, you're gonna fuck up. everyone does. being good at it means you can recover. we'll help you through it. 💚💚
better off mixing it in for more aeration. glitch is spot on. try using coco it’s more forgiving
even in soil it still makes it way to the top. pumice is a better option if reusing soil
It’s optional I’m assuming since I’m using fabric pots ?
I appreciate you guys a lot 🙏🏽I’m open to learn as much as possible. Starting off with one right now. I had grew one before, but tossed it (personal reasons) SIX actually helped me with fixing the deficiency, but again. had to ditch it. this one I’m seeing it through
that’s my next grow. I want to try coco, with a auto drip irrigation system.
six is amazing at noticing and knowing how to correct imbalances. if he can't help you, set the plant on fire bc it wasn't meant to be
😂😂😂😂
