BudCups were very convient, and rootball stayed completely intact from the time I pushed it up and out the cup and into the pot. I was being too delicate to risk taking a pic of the rootball lol! Testing out the Vivosun 7 gallon fabric pots with handles vs SmartPots with no handles. Went with tan color to help with the heat/humidity combo around my zone. Unlike my other Auto's, these were planting in Coast of Maine "Bay Blend" with some additional perlite instead of mixing what I could find that was top notch like the others.
Ghost Toof by Mephisto Genetics is a must have already in my opinion it has done better than all others from the start. Fingers crossed that I can transplant without shocking, may have to transplant this evening after dark due to the roots. BudCups tips advised to transplant as soon as roots start to show for Auto's which they have done very well with the cups. If they handle the transition then I would highly recommend to beginners. The BudCups made me realize how much I was overwatering the previous 2 sets that I put directly in 7gal smart pots. These cups allow drainage and encourage the rootball to fill out in the cup instead of a single traveling tap root.
Here are the transplants holding strong even through the 100 degree humid as hell days! Not going to lie they got pounded with that 3in rain (specks of potting soil on my siding!) and were laying flat next to my decapitated Sour Stomper. Rushed them inside to get any light they could that was focused on my flowering ones. A few days later after drying out and supporting them straight, they took back to growing. Ghost Toof wants to sky rocket and I bet if it were just a bit cooler then it would. I wish I would've looked at the forecast before I transplanted because I feel sure the heat stunted or shut em down for a few days. The transplanted Northern Light is what I used to replace the Sour Stomper that was bashed. It was also in a BudCup that was wayyy too hot in the heat for a few days. The Titan F1 was started indoors maybe a week or so ago (got to find where I wrote it down lol) after seeing how good the Epsilon F1s were praying during those 100 degree days. Those F1s are something else when it comes to that vigor and the Titan F1 is supposed to be better than the Epsilon. As you can see it's bigger than the Northern Light that is a solid week or more older...
I hope that everyone is having a great week so far and not having to fight as much humidity as I have here lately lol!! Long story short, the box fan blowing on the mesh tent 24/7 really, really helped with the humidity issue. Last night, somehow, my wife managed to break the fan and it's been off ever since. Of course during that off time, we have had plenty of rain, cloudy overcast, and the good ole swamp ass humidity. My other ladies that made it further always had the white clear pistols until later in flower...am I getting ready to have some mold issues or am I just over thinking things? These pistols didn't seem to be that brown color prior to today. All of my other Mephisto plants have maintained that super bushy, long reaching, clear pistols until closer to harvesting. Thanks in advance for any tips, in the meantime I'm going to go hunt me down another cheapo fan..
i am unsure on whether or not pistil color is indicative of a humidity issue. I would say to get a bit personal with your girls and bend the growth site away from the branches to allow for more air flow.
Extremely humid, usually 60-90% with some hard showers the last few days. There just happened to be a sale 50% off patio umbrellas not long ago so of course I got it for my wife (wasnt thinking about the plants at all π) and somehow got home in time that evening to test how it would stand up in the rain. The fan and where the umbrella was ironically placed, kept even the dense Mephisto strains dry in the mesh tent!! 3 Bears OG x Ice n Baked makes me take at least 3 or 4 whiff and sometimes walk back for a couple more just to remind her how much I'm loving that smell! Ghost Toof has it too but not quite the funk like 3BOGxInB..already frosting nicely! Used some diatamatious earth to stay ahead of any potential guests that outsmart the mesh tent. I'm glad I let the defoliation stay in the pots, any caterpillars before the d.earth munched those instead of taking off up the stalks. Nightly and morning checks for any signs to be preventive instead of worrying about treating when it could be too late. Due to humidity I used clips on Mimosa taking advantage of her entire stretch to make some space. I'm hoping she thickens each of those spots she's budding but at the same time I dont want tiny. If I should get rid of any sites let me know. Last 2 nodes already removed but that 3rd had one hell of a stretch. Hints of citrus but very light. 3BOG and GT very opposite of not able to hardly smell! Since I was pumping nutes Sunday's and Wednesdays, I gave them a very nice flush for a while with some fresh rain water that had collected on our pool floats out by the pool. They were holding it all in for a good while then poured out brown and then clear with a trail of runoff going the next morning. Did a dry back for 4 days and can feel the roots when you rub the fabric pots. Chunks of roots all around the last half of the pot, none out the bottom so far. Started back with 1gal water slowly feeding the 5 then switched and 1 gal terp tea slowly as well. Next day watered with light dose of Flora series and CaliMagic and they loved it. Unfortunately out of Recharge...for now!
I was thinking about getting those. I ended up with AC Infinity 1/4 fabric pots. Theyβre somewhat thin so one is able to see right through them. Theyre thin enough that roots can grow through them so transplants are as easy as digging the whole and putting the whole thing in.
Shadow keep me posted on how you like the smaller fabric pots. That does sound pretty fool proof compared to these BudCups...if these BudCups aren't moist or at least a little compacted, then getting out as one solid chunk isn't the easiest with a seedling mix. Luckily, I have been using myco directly sprinkled on the wet paper towel when germinating, and more sprinkled when going from paper towel to BudCups. They come from the paper towel within 48hrs with one hell of a fuzzy tap root! I'm thinking thats why this latest run of mine has wanted to stretch their legs while directly under the light.
A follow up on the bags, they are honestly the best to have when you can propigate in a humidity dome or the like. They dry out really fast but this is not a worry when humidity can be controlled or implemented. I think the biggest pro for them is the ease of transfer. I was able to transfer the plants with little to no shock (this includes autos). Biggest con is the material being light and made of fabric, drying out and soil overheating is a problem.
