Grow Timeline (37 updates)

mystery auto see is in rockwool cube in plain water. seed is starting to pop. I'm still not sure what mini run I'm going to do with the plant itself as of yet. I'm torn between soil and hydro.
if I do soil I already know the soil I have on hand is hot and heavy on the N, if I do hydro I haven't decided if I'm gonna toss in a small air stone or just change water daily. I'm giving myself the next few days to plan it out and I'll make my decision once we're out of the germ stage

Decided on soil for this little lady. So we've got a mix of garden soils in here and I know it runs hot with N as I used it on a photo and she was DARK green. it took about a month for the photo to eat off most of the N so if I'm lucky I won't need to feed this lady at all.
We're in a 4 inch nursery pot and as mentioned I'm not going to transplant for this one. My whole goal with this grow is to see the turn around time start to finish and how large of a cola I can get. Next round will be my first attempt at herming a plant. I'll let that plant self pollinate and try to collect some pollen for future growing plans.

Put myself together a mini grow tent for this little lady today. Took and 18Γ18Γ24 box on its side, taped in some foil, added my old light and a mini usb fan that doubles as a water mister should I need it and a cheap temp/humidity gauge I've had laying around. I can open the 'doors' to let it cool down if I noticed the temp getting too high and what not. I figure for such a tiny pot/plant I really don't NEED that much space at all. I wanted to keep this one upstairs as I know she'll need more constant watering as she grows. I also took an older air pump and stone to set up a bubbler for my watering. I won't worry too much on the ph for this one my tap water sits around a 7ish which should be fine for soil. I'll worry about it if need be later on.
nice π
thanks! my other ladies are in hydro in my basement so this should be a fun time waster to fuss over. and practice for my future breeding plans

Well she made it through yesterday and last night. I had a hell of a time getting the temps to sit well, I ended up turning the fan to act as an exhaust to get the hot air out and let the gaps pull cold air in. Temps are sitting around 80F where I'd like them to bed and the humidity is still reading low. I'm convinced that's just the gauge in there not reading it. I'll need to have a new one come in. I've got another mini fan I might pop in the box later on for actual airflow once she's a bit bigger.
Watering was just a splash of bubbled bottled water just to wet the soil a little more after the fluctuating temps yesterday. I still need to grab a drip tray for the pot so I can take it out of the other pot I've been using to collect any drips it's on the list for my next time to Walmart no real rush on it.
I will be monitoring her color outside of the little box since I know about the soil being hot. Part of me is wondering how long I'll be able to go without feeding her. I've had a photo going from seed in a 3gal fabric pot of the stuff for well over a month now and it's finally managed to eat through the worst of it and has stopped showing signs of N tox. I would love to get through veg without needing to feed anything.
I think that's everything so far today, anything notable happen I'll make another post.

Well little lady here is still doing very well imo, may water later as the soil is drying up a bit but I may push another day as I've got a bit of a history with over watering in soil. I have been misting my little water bottle turned dome at least once a day when I check the temps in there. I'll try to remember to grab some light readings when I check it out again.
I'm seeing the smallest bit of what looks like nute burn on the very edges of the leaves which does not surprise me on that soil at all.
I have decided that my little diy box isn't going to stick around long term. After talking to the hubby about it I'm going to snag myself a cheap 2x2x4 tent offline in the next few weeks then once my mimosa cake auto downstairs is finally done I'll be taking that SF1000D and bring it upstairs for the mini grow. That is unless I find a decent light onsale and just buy another one.(I hate that plant so much she's been a nightmare that should be over by the end of January thank god)
I think that's all for this post.

Well I decided (with some friendly pushing from my husband) to actually get a real tent for this little lady. I found a coupon for 10$ off the light so she's getting a light upgrade as well next week when the tent comes in.
I'll have a new temp/humidity gauge before the weekend as well so the only thing I may need to get to complete this one would be another fan to replace the current one.
additional notes added: took a better photo of mystery lady here she's looking great and growing as expected. I didn't realize you can only post once per day but that's fine I'll just work with it
New home new light sheβs gonna be happy π πͺ΄
oh I think she will be and it's perfect timing since downstairs in my main growing area my hydro lady is just about into stretch (she's a bubblegum auto) so if my timing works I'll be harvesting that one right as this one goes into flowering.
sea of green β»οΈ

Little lady is doing well today, got her some water as the soil was a bit dry today. I am probably going to make adjustments to her temp box tent this weekend as the way mounted the light is not holding up at all. I just need it to hold in place until mid next week when the new tent arrives! I know I'll be putting that together as soon as it arrives. One of the perks of working from home I suppose.
At this point I'm debating on if I'll need another fan or not for that tent. I suppose we'll see once it gets here.

Little lady here is staying squatter than I expected so far. Since it's a mystery seed I have no idea what strain this is nor do I know what to expect. Part of me thinks she may be indica dominant just based on other plants I've grown that were heavy indica, those plants stayed a bit shorter and were more bushy than sativa heavy strains I've done. I'm lowkey hoping she is just because my husband prefers indica strains when he smokes.
Other than the light in the box killing me at bed time (thank god for eye masks) things are progressing well with little lady here. I'm still going to wait before feeding her anything on that soil. My 7 week old photo downstairs in the same soil is still WAY too dark green imo so I'm just going to watch little lady and just keep an eye out for issues with her and feed as needed.

Little ladies larger leaves were a bit droopy today. She was in need of a good watering so I'm hoping that was it and it's not from the soil being too hot. Temps were up and down last night and I'm not really sure why since I haven't don't much of anything different at that point. I'll continue to keep and eye on that and make adjustments as needed for now.
I'm already making plans for my next grow in the space little lady here is going into. As usual I spent a few hours on YouTube watching grow videos and podcasts and my brain is going wild with some ideas.

I dunno there isn't a lot to say at the moment. I'm mildly concerned about her color (she's darker than I'd like) and that odd droop to her larger leaves is something I'll watch for. Other than that She's growing fine. Since I watered to run off yesterday I'm going to let her dry back a bit today and either water tonight or tomorrow morning. If I wasn't set on this being a mini grow I'd repot her but I'm going to stick with the mini run for this one.
I think I'm going to do coco for my next mini run or at least a heavier coco mix. I hate the 5gal coco I've got going downstairs with my mimosa cake auto in it even though objectively it's been a very successful run so far even if she's a month older than she should be and she looks like she's still early in flower after weirdly revegging last month on me. It's a whole story with that plant.
I'm probably just going to rinse and till the left over coco from that one once she finishes and mix it with my left over soil plus the soil from this one. I'm a fan of reusing soil where I can in the yard in general.

Not a lot overall for little lady today, temps are a little higher today as it's a lot warmer in general in my area. We've had a lot of rain lately and humidity is up in general not that I'm worried about it at the moment.
My new light and tent were officially shipped yesterday and will be here tomorrow, hopefully in the morning. If not I'll be building that new tent between helping clients at work. I forgot how much I hate these purple lights in general, I don't mind them for seedlings though and it will take a single plant to harvest that harvest is just sad compared to what I can get even with a SF1000D light. That's also without a tent I am actually looking forward to seeing what I can get out of this little plant with the tiny pot under a decent light.
I have been tempted to repot her into a larger 2gal pot I've got on hand but I'm gonna stick it out with the baby pot for now. The next one in that tent is going in a 3gal fabric pot with probably soil/coco mix just for fun to see how big I can get in the 2x2 before I go back to mini runs. I want to try a potato chip can run and maybe try a legit solo cup run.

Little lady was moved into her new home today! building that tent was a struggle not gonna lie but most of that was probably due to trying to build it between helping clients at work. I did have a much easier time with the light then I did setting up my spider farmer lights and I love the dial for intensity. Right now I have the light at the farthest distance buy at 100% the lux reading was right around where I like it for this stage according to my phone but I'll double check it when I take my lunch break and can run downstairs for my lux meter. I like to confrim the readings with that just to play it safe. I may turn the intensity down a little and lower the light so it's closer but that will be something I fuss with throughout the day until I'm happy with it.

It has been a nightmare and a day with the temps for this tent. I managed to get us around 82 all night with the light at 50% strength and at the top of the tent. I wasn't getting the ppfd I like at that hight so I've lowered the l8ght to about 2 feet from the plant itself and at 50% it's hitting where I like it to be roughly. I cranked up my humidifier in the tent to help with the temps right now I think I may pull the light back up and just put the plant on a riser to get closer to the light. That will be the task today overall. I'd like to keep the temps under 80F but that doesn't seem to be possible at the moment in my lung room. I'm trying to cool down the lung room itself to see if that helps but I've got some newborn kittens in the same room now (whole seperate issue there) so I can't chill things too much right now. The heat is actually killing me in here especially since I work and sleep in this room.

Little Lady is getting branches! Normally I'd be planning on training and prepping for that but for little lady I'm not going to train her. I'm also not going to defoliate until I see signs of flowering. I usually remove lower fan leaves to boost my stems but I'm not going to do that for her. I want to let her grow mostly left alone for this experiment.
I'm holding off on her next watering until the soil dries back a bit. I'm weighing her a few times a day and I'll water once the weight stops going down over time

Well I took a long weekend and kept off most medias so here is a full update on little lady.
She is honestly getting bigger than I expected over thr weekend. I made some light hight adjustments yesterday to lower the dli a bit, I was running them high like I normally do but decided to just not do that with her and she seems to appreciate it. I have not started nor do I plan to do any training with her either.
I considered me options and I'm not even going to strip leaves until she starts flower. I figure day 1 flower I'll go in heavy and pull the fans off the lower levels and then leave her be until harvest. I'm normally too hands on with it anyway and it's probably why my plants run a bit longer from the stress.
I'm starting to see some color changes on her leaves so I will probably start feeding her sometime this week or next week I just want to see if the leaves look 'normal' or if we're actually getting deficient on her since that soil was so hot to begin with.
My photo in the same soil is still suffering from N toxicity and honestly it's getting on my nerves with that plant.
I'm still not sure which end of the scale she's gonna go though I'm fairly confident little lady is a hybrid possibly on the indica side since her leaves aren't really obviously ind or setiv yet, that may be because I've purposely stunted her in that tiny pot too.
She is getting watered daily/every other day to run off. To make sure I'm not overwatering too badly I am weighing her throughout the day and once she stops dropping weight for at least 2 weighing a few hours apart at least then I water to run off wait a little for the water to fully drain, weigh her and do the process all over again.

Debating on if/when/how I feed this girl. I'd like to keep her mostly water only and it's soil but her pot is so tiny I don't think it'll be feesable with her. I've got some organic liquid food that I think is a 132 or something. it's very mild and I'm not that big a fan. I am thinking about making a gallon batch at a time and using it over a week/days I'll have to double check the strength on it next time I run to check the basement plants. I'm not rushing to feed her mostly just watching the heavy N drop in her new growth for now but I don't want to wait to feed when she's starving either.
Right now we're watering about every other day (I've been weighing the pot after I water till runoff then every few hours when I remember and usually right before I go to bed and right when I get up in the morning. When the weight is effectively no longer dropping for at least 2 weigh ins then I water).
I have considered moving the tent into another part of the house but between the cats and space issues I'd rather not even if the heat from it would help keep that room warm and stop boiling me in here. I think my next big tent purchase will be an exhaust system I can easily run it out a window and call it a day. now I am also probably being super dramatic about the heat but I'm sensitive to the heat/cold in general.
I have just been rambling here so I'm going to shut up now.
update: liquid food I've got is 312 and ice also got one that's just pk I might try on her first since I know there's still plenty of n in the soil.

App was being funny yesterday and not uploading my update. oh well.
We're in a holding pattern for little lady. I was going to take any leaves off but once she hits flower I'm going to HAVE to remove some fan leaves to open up for light. She's a cute little shrub right now though.
working on in π
no worries I also submitted it as an actual bug as well for you when it happened!
yup got it thanks!

I'm trying not to feed her before she hits flower but I am going to give her a bit of Mag I think I'm still on the fence if I want to or not. We'll see.
She's growing great otherwise and should be hitting flower in the next week or so.
it would figure that the one time I'm TRYING to really stunt an auto and want it to hit flower early I get one that wants to be amazing in a tiny pot and not go right into flower.

Did my evening check on little lady and we have hairs! I know I kept saying I wasn't going to train her but after I defoliated her I just had to do something, she's about to stretch I'm sure she can handle it. I am going to start feeding her at her next watering time especially since she's gotten a bit lighter in color and she'll need the extra n for the next week or two.
I will be keeping her as level as possible with the net and I won't take any more leaves until day 21 like normal.
I have moved her closer to the light and I need to check the dli for her once I'm back in the lung room, I didn't really want to however I have another seed going in a different medium and I'd like to avoid that one getting caught in the net. it's another small trial run this one dwc/kratkey ish setup for fun that I'd like to net as well. I know I said the next run would be a 3gal but I changed my mind only because I'll have 6-8 weeks on that mini, she should finish right around when this new one will flower (I'm expecting it to be larger than this one my other dwc is massive compared to any other plant I've done before.

little lady got her first feeding today! she's perking up great after the trimming and netting yesterday. she got a heavy feed today of half dose nutes. I mixed a half dose of my liquid veg food with my bloom booster and a bit of Epsom salt for mag.
Slowly hand watered with the nutes about a lt of total liquid over about 20 mins time. I was doing other things and coming back to her so it may have been longer but under an hour for sure.

Not much of an update here, little lady is trucking along. I keep tucking leaves on e they get long enough and she's loving the nute increase since she's fed a bit each day right now. Still very early in flower and not much stretching visible with the net but it's happening.

Little lady seems to be fully into flower now I'm not seeing much new growth since she first started throwing hairs but we have full on prebuds now!
I'm still curious if she'll get much bigger or anything but for now we're gonna sail on and hopefully her room mate doesn't get too big yet and mess with my system here!

No real updates today just keeping on the way I have been. I am seeing a touch of nute burn on her so I'm going to dial back and only do water the next few days and see if that sorts her out or if I need to keep feeding daily like I have been. She's grown a ton of new leaves overall to under the canopy that I'm itching to get rid of but I'm going to be patient and not strip them until day 21 of flower.

No real updates lately, little lady is running along just fine with way more bud sites than I'd have expected for a plant so small.
The 21st will be clean up day and we'll get those extra leaves out. I also have another fan on the way. I am struggling with humidity in the tent so I've taken to leaving it open all day to drop the humidity this does trend to leave it down in the 30s for the day but I'll live with that for especially since my basement plants grow with the humidity that low and do fine and outdoor plants don't have control over humidity.
Your grow seems to going well and at week 3, you will have a good yeild when it comes to harvest. It's a good looking plant. π
Thanks! This little plant has been a rockstar and really surprised me for how many bud sites it's gotten for being so small. I know people tend to hate on autos but I do love them. Once she's done I'll be vegging the clone that shares the tent space with her to fill it out then flip that one over to flower as my next project.
That's the one I like to do a couple of clones and as you say they are there for to start a new growing season, and that's why we grow to begin with. Have a good weekend.

I noticed my pistil hairs were starting to brown today which is really early for only 3 weeks into flower, I know autos run fast but I've never had this happen with one. I turned down my light again figuring it might have been too high and was otherwise burning her. my DLI is now around 30 when I had been running it around 40-50 so we'll see what happens from here.
from the ai: Potential Issues Light Stress: If the light intensity was too high, it could cause stress, leading to early browning of the pistils. A DLI of around 30 is more appropriate for the early flowering stage. Nutrient Deficiencies: Light-colored leaves could indicate a nitrogen deficiency or other nutrient imbalances. Environmental Stress: Temperature and humidity extremes can impact plant health. Follow-Up Questions Growing Conditions: What are the current temperature and humidity levels in your grow area? Nutrient Schedule: What nutrients are you providing, and how often do you feed your plant? Watering Practices: How often are you watering, and what is the moisture level of the growing medium? Recommendations Monitor Light Levels: Since you've already reduced the light intensity, observe the plantβs response over the next few days. Watch for any improvement in the pistils and overall health. Nutrient Check: Ensure your nutrient solution is balanced, especially in nitrogen and other essential nutrients. A balanced feed can help correct deficiencies. Environmental Control: Maintain stable growing conditionsβaim for 70-80Β°F (20-27Β°C) with 40-60% humidity during flowering. Next Steps Please provide answers to the follow-up questions to better assess the situation. Monitor your plantβs response over the next few days. If possible, share additional images to track progress. Feel free to reach out with more questions or updates! π±
oh it was 100% light stress I made adjustments and she's much better now all new white hairs out now

after my sudden browning episode I went ahead and made some overall adjustments to everything in the tent. I dialed the light down a ways and finally found the ideal venting setup to finally get the humidity under control. little lady was STRESSED for a bit there but now all the brown pistils have been replaces with new white hairs. I've also reintroduced some nutes (3-1-2 liquid organic I've had laying around) as she had a little yellowing on a few leaves come in.
If you're wondering why that's all she's getting this late into flower the soil she's in was hot to begin with and she didn't really NEED anything else.
Maybe try to give the soil some enzymes to make it easier for the plant and yourself, but I like the way it looks. π
Funny enough I actually added recharge yesterday to my watering plans for her along with some calmag. I'm assuming the smaller pot/smaller amount of soil is why she's eaten through anything since her 3gal photo sister in the tent is on the same blend of soil and not showing any issues, they both get the same water and otherwise have identical set ups just one is a photo and in a larger pot than little lady here. The mother photo is in a 5gal of it and she's as green as normal and happy so it's probably just depleted for her by now overall.
Sometimes you get that 1 plant lags behind the rest, especially if you're saying they are clones, but just a case of plodding away.
well ones a clone the other is a mystery auto (the one on flower is the auto) the only thing the two have in common here is the soil/watering and lighting lol I'm just waiting for the auto to finish so I can swap to 12/12 and knock out the photo so I can run something solo in this tent
Nothing to really update but I am making a small overall change to my lighting in the tent. I finally got myself a smart plug and set it on a timer, we should be swapping from 24/0 to 18/6. little lady has overall been fine on 24/0 but I figured with the light stress she was under before why not change things a little bit. Her tent mate the photo will probably appreciate the change though. I am tempted to bring little lady down to the basement to finish off but with how often she needs to be watered this late in the game I really don't want to be running back and forth all day.
Like the title said did some trimming today mostly to get out the discolored leaves from her stressed out time and I've also added some calmag into her watering plans just to be safe since she looks like we've got some cal issues going on with her. She is starting to frost and I can see the baby buds starting to fatten up now which is nice.
little lady is yellowing and looking burnt at the same time, I've just flipped the lights to 12/12 today so we'll see if she improves at all with the dark time. humidity and temps have been steady and I've given calmag in the water. I've added some nutes to the water but I'm going to switch my focus to checking the ph/ppm more on run off and going from there. water going in is around 6.1-6.3 but I've been lazy about checking the run off. The photo clone in the tent with her has been doing just fine in the soil without issues but we all know every plant is different.
You always know need to check your run off for your EC and PH, especially if it's a hydroponic grow. It's a really easy thing to get into to check it daily. Just trying to give you some good advice. And not lecture. π
π
little lady hasn't gotten worse but she's not looking much better. the worst of the color fading has stopped thankfully and she's starting to develop some trics that are now visible. EC was coming out high when watering so I'm going to just continue with plan phd water plus half a dose calmag and half a dose recharge since she's seemed to like that along with the 12/12 lighting. granted I may have to move her downstairs into the basement if her tent mate gets too big and blocks her I'm trying to avoid that but ill need to make up my mind in the next week.

I dunno we're in week 7ish now of for flower and she's got a little frost, so many brown hairs from earlier stress too. but we've got new pistils and the damaged leaves haven't gotten worse. ec runoff is back in range and staying there thankfully so far. I have decided I will not be smoking this one once it's done once the trics are where I want she's going to get chopped then tossed in the freezer until I'm ready to make hash again. I might dry a branch just to see but I'd doubt it since it's just an experiment plant anyway. the brown hairs make me fear there's pollen somewhere in those buds but I don't see sacs anywhere yet I just don't want my photo clone pollinated at all. Though that wouldn't be the end of the world.
the close ups look awesome
it does if only the rest wasn't so burnt lol. this is the second time I've had issues with a plant having similar bud structure to this one. Last time it was a watering problem in coco so I chalked it up to that now I'm not so sure. it does tempt me to swap over to just dwc for my autos I've had great results that way.
Canβt really see where it went wrong but looks like it could be a PH issue, locking nutrients out or ppmβs got too high. an got some nutrient burn.
yeah I'm thinking it burned more than anything plus the stress it was under while I was working out the temp humidity issues with the tent itself. I knew the soil I was using ran hot for at least N so I wouldn't be surprised if it was off on the other nutes too. take that plus the tiny pot full of roots and the out of range ec for a bit all adds up especially with an auto. Even with the issues and burn she's doing far better than I'd expect for such a tiny plant.

Well little lady is doing what she should be. I pulled out my microscope and got some decent macro shots. Now to just keep her watered and ride out until she's got more amber on the buds we still have a lot of clear I'd like to see ripen.
I went ahead and chopped today, was seeing a good amount of amber but also really needed the space for my photo more than anything. I split her into 3 sections (bottom 4 branches, middle 4 then the top) since she was so dense I wanted to help reduce the chances of molding/rotting. she is now in the basement hanging to dry. I'm going to leave her alone for at least the next 3-5 days then start checking the dryness. my basement gets most plants dried in about 7-10 days depending on the weather overall.

Little lady is trimmed and bagged. I know I said I was just gonna hash it but she smelled so good I figured dry and cure anyway. I ended up with what feels like a respectful 1.05oz from such a tiny plant after stripping the stems and cleaning the buds up. they're denser than I expected but not as dense as I'd like. We'll blame that on the stress. I did get a little lazy on the trim and probably could have gotten a little bit more bagged up but I was over it at that point. It won't be wasted I'll be freezing the trimmings until my next hash run.
Congrats! Canβt wait to see the next run
Thank you! I'm trying to figure out what I'm even doing next once the clone filling the 2x2 is done. I'm either going to do another photo clone and really try to fill the tent, pop a photo seed to try manifolding or do another auto but in a Pringle can this time.
awe man. decision decisions, those all sound like fun options. π€·ββοΈ
awe man. decision decisions, those all sound like fun options. π€·ββοΈ
right!? too many options. I'm leaning more towards the clone or the auto in the Pringle can. that's only because the photo seeds I have are regs I got off my friend who got them from a friend who had a whole seeded grow. they could be herm seeds but she wasn't able to get more info off the grower so they could be male and females mixed. I'd hate to waste my time training a male plant so I might just hold off on those for now.
Iβve had a whole seeded Grow over 100 pounds π€¦ββοΈπThe Pringles can sound super interesting. Iβm not gonna lie. lol
ouch I'd have cried having that sized harvest seeded. I know it's not the end of the world but still. I'm leaning towards the Pringle can run myself that could be fun and the auto would only get but so big in it. I'm curious how large I could get it since we know they'll grow until the taproot hits the bottom. Maybe I'll try stacking two of them for the fun of it. I made my husband save his cans after the last time he got some.

I think itβs an awesome idea. I think we need a contest of these type grows. I saw one relatively huge plant out of a prescription bottle. itβs was crazy lol.
wow I can't imagine a pull bottle being very big but my mini here also surprised me a lot on how big she got
did you dry before you put it into the groove bags?
oh yeah she hung in the basement for about 5 days, I hadn't watered the last few days before chopping and the humidity is around 30% down there so it dried pretty fast.

Just curious, isn't pollen from a hermed plant genetically unstable? I'm still learning, and deep diving into so many different aspects. I haven't gotten to deep into the whole breeding process other than leaving males and females together. once We get the basement cleaned out I'm moving down there with a larger tent. Then I want to start playing around with that...
They can be more unstable and more likely to herm but that's a risk with autos anyway. So far I've had amazing luck and none of the autos I've done before have hermed on me. I only want one or two batches of seeds for my personal use so if they herm down the line I don't really care.
That actually sound like it would be fun to do π€
Right!? I've seen videos where the grower only hermed one or two low branched for seed so I may try that I haven't decided yet.
Please let us know how it works out. Now that your telling me you can supposedly herm just branch or 2 really has me wondering.
Sure thing! I'm probably going to run that experiment on the next plant I do in this 2x2 I've coming next week for this plant. There's a later post where I mention I ordered some new equipment for this one.
