Grow Timeline (18 updates)
Popped 6 Blue Cherry seeds by CWG and all 6 sprouted. Then I picked the most vigorous 2 plants and prioritized them in the 3x3 & Autopots. the other 4 I repotted into 1 gallon fabric pots (oof, I really need to go to 15 gal plastic pots) and tossed them outside. Ive been feeding them with GH calmag and TPS nutrients. I also took 2 clones, 1 from each plant in the 3x3, bagged with a spritzed sandwich bag and they rooted in about a week and a half to 2 weeks. Put them into ¼ gal fabric pots and had them indoors for a week using a half built 2x2 & my HLG rspec200 at 130 ppfd before sending them outside to hardy up. I need an actual clone tent, for clones and a mother, but I am running out of space without using the garage!
Fortunately for my space and to my surprise, when the HVAC guy came over I ended up sending him home with a clone! 😂
This grow I really tried to pluck more fan leaves than I usually feel comfortable taking off. Hoping to see some benefits, feeling proud so far!
Switching to Cropsalts Bloom A & B after a rez rinse and quick pHed line flush.
I am straight up beaming the shit out of these girls with light, pushing 1200 ePPFD in the center and 1000-1100 on the edges. No CO2 🤫
nice clean setup. how have you liked the hydro system.
I absolutely love it, best decision I've ever made. Allowing them to drink at their leisure instead of my watering-time being the rate limiting step in the grows. I was watering 3 times a day but they still never looked as lush and vigorous as they do now. All in all I HIGHLY recommend getting your watering process automated, whether it's a drip feeder on a timer, autopots, or anything else. It will blow your mind how much they will blow up once that's taken care of. my setup is 2 Autopot XL bases, 2 aquavalve 5s, 2 T-joints with ⅜ID tubing down the main line, and then each XL base has a ¼ ID tubing connected to the aquavalve5. All tubing is connected to my 25 gal rez with a ½" ID ¼ turn valve. there's more to it but typing on my phone sucks! LMK if you have any other questions, I'm down to talk shop.
I just ran the pex from my R.O. system into my room today. this information is critical to my winterish project. thanks for the great details.
I have to figure out if I'm turning the entire room in a mega man grow cave or keep it somewhat simple. I can max out at 12 plants currently per law so a couple few in hydro would be awesome.
That's awesome, it sounds like a fun project. I'm excited to see it get set up and filled out!
1300 ppfd, 2.5 EC, no CO2, No Stress😎
Do you see how your leaves are more than praying?
yes I checked my the ppfd and it jumped up to 1600 in areas, needed to pull it up to get it back below 1300!
dope
hey my lights just came back on and I checked the back right plant and the area with the worst praying was ~700 ppfd, do you think it could be because of heat stress? or is praying almost certainly light stress?
praying is basically the leafs just being happy absorbing the sunlight as we all know. The way your girls are “praying” they are trying to reduce the surface area therefore reducing the amount of light being able to be absorbed. Some plants will taco, some will wilt, some will point straight up to decrease the amount of light they’re getting. Either decrease the intensity of the light or raise the fixture. I run my lights at light 60-65k lux but I also have co2 exhale bag to provide 1000-1500 ppm co2.
your fixture is pretty damn close. just raise it a couple inches and you’ll see the difference shortly
thank you for your help, I raised them and I'll report back. I'm just entering week 5 so I'm pushing them as much as I can without CO2, but I plan on dropping back down. I just checked the lux meter and in some areas it was hitting 90k, but the range was 70-90k.
Word I gotcha. I’m not super experienced or anything as far as growing but I’ve got probably 15 years of studying the plant because I knew one day I would grow my own smoke and medicine. I’ve mostly everywhere read that if you’re not running co2 then 60k lux should be max. Of course with it you can push more. Can you tell a difference yet?
Lights on in 25 mins, so far it's looked like it was a smart decision, they've stopped praying as intensely. This is only my 3rd grow so I've also stuck by the no more than 900 ppfd (~60k lux) but I was made aware of this paper from a debacco university video on youtube. You should check them out, but I've tried to hit 1,000 ppfd like the video mentions from the paper. They said there is a linear relationship with biomass and light intensity, as long as other parameters are dialed in. It mentioned that there were no diminishing returns until above 1800 ppfd. All done without CO2!
However, it wasn't as black and white as 'blast them with 1800' and you're good. It’s only the first time I'm seeing it. here's the link for the video & paper. https://youtu.be/lpwVjYCrTxc?si=ErRyrDuXxqmX-vhP https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jarmap.2024.100583 I actually realized that the Debacco University video discusses a different paper so this would be the 2nd paper I saw of initially: 2021 May 11:12:646020. doi: 10.3389/fpls.2021.646020. eCollection 2021
toss those into a gpt, but at the end of the day they were praying really hard.
well with the lights on it's pretty clear they look better after raising the lights. I'm still averaging 1,000 ppfd throughout the canopy, but nothing like a few days ago. I think I mentioned but I hit 1700 ppfd and it was a lot for them.
It happens dude. lol glad they’re doing better. I’ve saw a lot of their videos and studies over the past 5 years. Honestly just because they can handle high ppfd doesn’t mean they want it. Always go with what your plant is showing you. Happy plants is the way
Planning on chopping in 2 days, It's always bittersweet cutting them down but I'm excited to see how everything turns out! Hopefully I can nail the dry, I Have my 32x32 set up and equilibrating before harvest.
I couldn't wait to chop mine .I needed a sleep in day .I got up everyday with my photos maybe this 3 Rd grow maybe I learn trust my timers .I got a older dial style probably time for a new one but yea I waited 10 days then I replanted I got 3 more going now they still seedlings
Looks so good
u definitely have a more than 2days left on those from the looks u have at least a week maybe 2left there friend just saying
I would have a little more patience my uncle used to tell me when you think they’re ready give them another week or two. The last two weeks are the most crucial because they’re going to swell more and all those hair shouldn’t even be there. The buds will swell out more and those hairs will get sucked right in and you still have a lot of white pistols there, bud.
From the look of the pistils I agree, but everywhere i checked the trichomes are 95-100% milky. It's week 9½ so I'm trusting my gut!
thank you!
the way I do it is let a couple. go amber that way u know there’s no clear ones anymore but to each is own
and the tricolmbs on the leafs mature faster than that actual buds and from what I see there isn’t any buds that have swell enough to even check the tricolmbs on the actual bud I think u are looking at the leafs not the buds but ok
and if those are indica dominant hybrid u actually want them to have more amber because in the constrains are supposed to be Moore Amber, hence the reason indica is more sleepy nighttime stuff and sativa is more daytime and supposed to be more cloudy tricolmbs
that’s y sativa is daytime stuff u don’t want amber on daytime stuff
You know im starting to agree with everyone, going to do 1 more week
going to push harvest back by 5-7 days
Must be a 11-12 week strain. Thats going to have a good terpene profile and some strong flavors.
yeah the smell has really started to come in, still managing to keep ambient temps at 70F and bud surface temp of -2 to -3, hopefully keeping it so low noticeably iincreases the smell after harvest!
Waited a few days longer and chopped at day 62, just as the first signs of trichome ambering. Probably could have waited another week. The real reason for this is I'm looking for a cerebral head high instead of a couch-lock.
In the dry tent at 65F/60% for around 10 days then into jars!
I need to try and grab clearer images when I get home.
Couldn't help popping off a smaller bud to check out the drying process. Planning on another 2 to 3 days and sending them to jars! The smell is really incredible, a very gassy cherry!
looks tasty !
Thank you! it's almost there can tell the next 2 days of drying will be perfect!
whens the best time to Get rid of leaves bottom heavy I'm in 2 weeks of flower cheers
I casually pluck fan leaves off until the night before flower, ill lollipop the lower branches and then pluck off any bud sites below my trellis netting (highly suggested) but if you dont have one just cut anything off that is like ⅓ of the way down. Then I flip to flower and I will randomly pluck off anything that is covering a good bud site, typically keeping the center of the plant - if looking downward from the top - cleared so light penetrates. Then day 21 flower I do my last "big" defoliation and make sure im happy with how they're spread through the trellis, then I leave it till the end! It kind of is a little subjective, dont be afraid to make some executive decisions but don't strip it completely bare! Good luck!
