Grow Timeline (16 updates)
Struggling with this app. tried to update my grow and ended up deleting it. so trying again.
This is my first grow. I germinated 5 seeded starting on the 20th, transferred to rockwool on the 24th. Top 2 are CP3O, a strain a friend developed. Bottom 3 are unknown. Only this I’m sure of is they are feminized photos(based on source)
Second pic taken today. was planning to transplant to coco today. Just before I discovered I have a water contamination issue that is going to take a few days to fix. I’m hopeful that these little ladies can wait. Only the 3 best get transplanted to the tent. The other 2 will find a new home on a railroad right of way a few blocks away. Can’t have them outside near my house. Nearest neighbors kids would most likely swipe them before I’m ready to harvest. The 2 across the ally would cut them down soon as they spotted them.
Finally able to move these ladies from the seedling tray to the big pots. wanted to do this last weekend but had a water contamination issue that had to be cleaned up to insure my water supply. city water super bad so went with rain barrel set up and something got into it and damn it was rancid. But fixed now and won’t happen again.
Culled the runt(given to a friend who has more room to mess with weak plant). Moved humidifier into tent to improve control of humidity. Added small occilating stand fan to facilitate air movement under developing canopy. This is a stop gap measure while I wait for my clip on fan to arrive. Added to the VIVOSUN AW400SE LED with built in fans above I have good air movement.
And last but not least I topped and did a light defol on the ladies.
Was told by a person I trust that I didn’t go far enough with last weekend’s defol. And as bushy and thick as the leaves were this morning I believe her. So, I pulled the ladies out, did a more thorough defol, cleaned the tent. Noticed I had a little wind burn on the leaves closest to the floor fan. It’s turned as low as it will go at the moment. Have a smaller occilating fan coming(should be here Monday). Also notice 2 of the girls felt heavier than the third. Checked the irrigation lines and found one kinked so she wasn’t getting her fair share. Hung the trellis, raised the light by about 12 inches, and closed it back up. Going into about the fourth week of veg. Think it may be time to flip the lights next weekend. Opinions? Suguestions?
how do you like the self watering set up? easy to use or was it something you had to trial and error with. currently manually watering myself on one plant and using a wicked swr on another.
It is a Rain Point system. spent about $30 for it and really like it. WiFi integration so you run it from your phone. Little wonky to control but once you figure it out and dial it in its nice. 1 unit can handle up to 12 plants. Biggest issue is figuring out volume per minute amount. will vary depending on how many plants your watering. I utilized ChatGPT to figure that out. Told ChatGPT how many plants, model of system, stage of growth. Came back with a volume per minute answer and calculated how long per cycle to give proper amount of water. Took about 2 days to dial in.
interested. are you using tap water?
I did at first. Let stand for 48 hours to off gas any chlorimides then check ph. Had to bring ph down. Used 10 gallons of tap before my rain barrels started to fill. Now I use straight rain water and so far ph from that has ran a steady 6.8 . Using Strive nutes. 2 part dry system that claims to be all you ever need. Specifically says not to add calmag. Since it’s dry it costs less to ship and saves money. Just have to mix part A into water, then add part B to the mix and it’s ready. Claims that you never need to flush in council the final week and so far it’s worked great.
awesome. good info I appreciate it. Definitely look into that
Last night I was checking on my humidifier and discovered 2 bugs in the water. Also found few more of same bug in my water supply. Here’s the thing. Humidifier is using RO water I source from another location. Water for plants is rainwater off my roof collected in drums. Did not see any of these bugs on any plant. Any idea what it is?
Moth flying around got in while you were doing maintenance or through a hole in tent?
to me that looks like a beet leaf hopper. they spread virus to cannabis, called curly beet top. research a bit to see if that’s what you have, hard to tell by picture
I work at a grow facility and showed it to the manager. she couldn’t identify it. Have only seen it in the water tank of the humidifier and irrigation unit. Haven’t seen any on the girls or soil. And haven’t seen any in past 48 hours.
good those particular bugs are nasty, I happy to hear it’s not. bugs suck 👍
wtf is that... is it living submerged?
skating around on the surface. I removed and deep cleaned both the humidifier and irrigation tank. Haven’t seen any in the past 4 days so hopefully all is good. Just flipped to flower Wednesday
optical illusion. anyways I would think if a week or two goes by and there's no larvae, you're clean and clear.
Looking a little puny this morning. Growing in Coco/Perlite mix. Have been doing daily watering of 1.2l and everything great. But keep seeing everyone going on about allowing for dry back, so decided to go to a every other day watering schedule. Last night was the first watering to be skipped. I woke up to these girls drooping! So Sad! Closed the tent back up since it was only a couple minutes till lights out. Decided to go back to the daily watering. They were happy with it so I’ll stick with it. In the meantime waiting for the evening watering I did remotely give them about a 3 minute blast on the RainPoint irrigation pump. Not the usual 1.2l they are used to, but should be enough(.3l) to hold them until lights on in 11 hours and the normal cycle resumes in 12. And finally was able to identify the bugs I have. Very minor infestation. Springtails. Only place I’m finding them is in the water reservoir. Have yet to spot any on plants or in the soil. Minor annoyance even if I did. Sorry about the poor quality photos, they look much better on my phone. Not sure why they fuzzed so much when I uploaded them.
I wouldn’t worry much about dry back. it looks like you have had good watering practices up to this point and have probably been letting it dry back enough. fabric pots help a ton to prevent overwatering.
I’m not really anymore. Everytime I try to do something “by the book” (The Cannabis Grow Bible. 4th edition) something seems to go wrong. So from now on I’m going to just do what I think will work and see what happens. I’ve always had a green thumb, but this is the first time for trying to grow cannabis.
It is with a heavy heart I have to announce the death of one of my babies. Ok, ok, I admit it! I killed it. I’m my defense it was a male. Happy Fathers Day to me finding one of my girls was a boy.
I'm sorry for you loss 😔💔
That's a fairly common occurrence these days.....😆😆
Depending where you are could throw it outside to collect the pollen for possible breeding later. Sometime the herd must be culled for its own good.
I have a friend who likes to tinker in breeding. He said he would take it. I bagged it and sealed it. Tossed it in the trash bin. Gonna check when I get home from work. if it can be salvaged he is going to come get it. Fitting since it started as one of his seeds.
Beginning of week 4 of flower. time to lolipop these ladies.
in the future, try taking out all the lower two sets of branches right away in veg, 1) 3 weeks before flower make your last topping of the plant 2)low stress training of all large branches about about 1 foot out from center of pot to create a 2ftx2ft grow space 3)then about two weeks before flower thin out all fan leafs, leave top 3 sets of fan leafs and any fan leaf that has a branch smaller than a 1/2 inch, cut all little nub/branches that are on the bottom of branches all the way up the branch and stop about 6 inches from the top of branch. now your not going to overly stress the lady in flower which can make her turn hermaphrodite and or stress her out and take away from her overall harvest
week 9. Been busy and so were the girls. starting to flush but backing off to every other day watering. Starting to cut nutes down as well. Been using Strive nutes this whole grow with no issues. But Switching to FloraPro for my next grow. Was gifted 25lb bags of grow, bloom, and late bloom. All I have to buy is micro and a 5lb bag of that is less expensive than Strive. I’ll have enough to last a couple years at least!
fire 🔥
Been backing nutes back for past 2 weeks. Watering every third day. One more clear water drench tomorrow (Saturday) then hard dry back and chop on Thursday. Can’t wait to get this cured and reap the rewards of my first grow.
Also if anyone is interested, I have limited access to 25lb bags of FloroPro Grow, Bloom, and Late Bloom. Willing to meet up in north central Missouri if anyone is interested.
looking frosty!!
You have a little different plastic starter tray than me but I recently had roots growing out the tray and thankfully all the plants are surviving but it was a pain to get the roots out of the hole in the plastic tray
I started out growing in woods .i would sometimes have 5 gallon camouflage buckets up in tree in one of the hunting stands . we had to have pair of sneakers with duct tape on bottom & I would carry a leash . that way I had a reason to be where we were this way I say I looking for my dog . tricks we come up with to grow 👍
