Grow Timeline (12 updates)
today I set up the new irrigation setup far enough to test everything. I found i grossly miscalculated the amount of pump I need, as well as that I have some leaks that need to be addressed. tomorrow I'm going to take the valve assembly down, re plumbers tape it, use a wrench this time, add the rest of the dripper lines and try it again. then it will be time to do some field capacity calculations and get some watering schedules together.... once done it's time to transplant some of the clones into 3gal pots and get going!
this run will be an expirement with automated watering of this table, and some areas of the tent once fully done. the idea is to use the pulse integration with opensprinkler to run a mix of aquarium pumps in bucket res and this diaphragm pump and sprinkler valve using normal sprinkler valves and rf controllable power outlets. so far I can get all the pieces to run together lol. now it's time to get it water tight, finish the purge and cleanup/required mods, get some field capacity notes together, transplant some plants, and get things rolling!
I am separating the logs for the tent and the table again, as it's time to delay some changes to flip these girls to flower. they are already a bit too big to my usual preference. it may be interesting X'D
the current plan is to finish prepping the tent, humidifiers in tent and room itself, lights and water schedule adjustments tonight. then add the stack to the res, and see what she does over the next few weeks. im not going to do a bloom booster or transitional feeding this round as the current ratio as already really leaning that way... though I may bump the ec tomorrow if I dont hit a peak pwec of like 3 in the drybacks tomorrow. my goal is to hit a pwec of 3-4 during stretch, then lower it back down a bit during bulk. I may bump it again at the end (with a different composition) but we'll see. currently im still rolling an adjusted ratio from @Glitch ! the girls have been loving it, though I drove nitrogen even lower that expected lol. this feed got about 2.1ec in the current res with the res assembly a bit more full than usual, so likely a bit over 40gal:
[ ] Silica 88ml (same)
[ ] Jacks a : 203.4g
[ ] Epsom : 60g
[ ] Jacks b : 115.56g
[ ] Vitamino: 80ml
[ ] Cannazyme : 12floz, 360ml
[ ] Hydrogaurd: 90ml
[ ] 80ml stack last
the pics today are a mix of before/after some of the defoliation I did today and last night to prep for flower
today i:
- tucked the leaves of the fastest growing tops to help even out the growth
- continued the lighting change (bringing the light up about another 75 or so ppfd to about 650 at the center and 600-560 at the outsides)
- adjusted watering controls (the p1 went well, the p2 automation test didn't work correctly and maintained a pretty high water content. that said, we did see a looong (slow) dryback to nothing too too low, so that part went pretty well. we'll see what happens with a double check of the data and an adjustment of the generative feedings....
- recorded ec changes after the 20% bump in feeding (I had to top off the res, so I added a 20% bump as well to help drive the ec closer tp the target. the peak pwec at the peak of dryback went from a 2.37ec peak before the boost, to a peak of 4ec so far today. the photos attached are from after that data was recorded! so far so good
I have also been fitzing with the temp and humidity / vpd this time around, shooting for a similar goal vpd at this stage compared to last. but at a higher temperature. last run I ran around 78-80, this one is running like 83-86f so far.... I may adjust the controls lowers to see if i can keep up with the weather, but so far this is mostly self inflicted. I am curious to test higher overall temperatures until the last few weeks of flower...
well see how it goes, stay tuned!
so far this round of clones is stretching much more than my last batch. so far I think the changed environmental goals are working out! I'll likely start tapering the temperatures, as well as the feed ec down sometime 5-10 days from now depending on when the stretch seems to taper.
so far all seems to be stretching evenly, all ive done in the last few days is adjust the light strength up a little bit, and clean up the bottoms and inside the canopy a little bit more, not taking too much, while also tucking the upper-mid and higher leaves of the tallest tops. ive done that twice over the last week.
apart from that ive been continuing to mess with my irrigation timing to get better dryback control. so far I have good overnights, but not as good dryback between irrigation yet. I may need to swap to a smaller pot again, but in the meantime, im lowering the amount of watering in seconds Per cycle, lowering the amount of cycles, and increasing the time between the cycles to bump the dryback up. I also set an automation to "catch" it if I overdid it. well see how it goes X'D. the goal is to refine the generative watering settings for this over the next few weeks of stretch, before swapping back to a more vegetative cycle for the bulking phase. we'll see how it goes!
so far so good! we are firmly in flower formation now, the sites seem to be setting, so I started the transition back to a more vegetative feeding schedule for the next few weeks. once I start seeiing some trichome development ill start the temperature taper as well. though we will stay warmer overall than last time. should be interesting to see how it pans out! cheers!
checking in after returning from a short trip to visit some family. the plants took everything pretty well. the front left (smallest) plant didn't like the ec, but all others seem really happy. i am swapping the feed to a slightly lower feed ec, but with a bit more calmag this round. well see how it all goes-
I did not expect the vertical growth we got this round, and neglected to double net. the buds are now heavy enough that everything was falling over and I had to get some help to net the table with a second bungee. we managed to get it into the canopy and give it a decent sort. while we are now outta green twist tie, all should hold ok for the next few weeks. I'm shooting for a week 8 or so harvest this round, though we'll see what the plants decide. apart from that updated have been sparse because Ive been distracted elsewhere due to some current life changes. Ill be more active in a few months, but will do my best to keep these going as I can in the meantime. ill catchya all then!
*note: I have attached some new update photos of the table, as well as the last month of logging data summary for the curious
so far so good! we have 2-4 weeks left to go on this round. all is bulking pretty nicely. they have been drinking alot more over the last few weeks, enough to trigger the watering automations I set as a safety net sometimes twice, once around the middle of the " night " and once 2 hours before their morning. im debating upping the day watering and changing up the p2 automation but havent made any moves there yet. tonight im swapping the water, and using some of it as diluted feed to transplant the veg plants (its been time for a few days, check out the veg tent for that update X'D). apart from that here some of the shots i took while swapping the res. ill report back in a week or so. fingers crossed!
Oh yeah, let the fun begin ๐ช
woot woot! Just a few more weeks to go! the prep has begun!
so far so good! im preparing to have to freeze some of this so we can go through mutliple drying runs. So far this is looking like the best run yet (knocking on wood). time will tell! we are looking at 1-2 more weeks (famous last words).
looking good!!
Very nice!
