dahlia breeding

been selfing each plant and collecting pollen.
p1 threw out another flower, just going to let that one do its thing until I dig up it's tubers and store it for next year.
pic 3 is a pollinated flower. the center disk swells and then the calyx closes up as the petals fall off
pic 4 and 5 are the same plant just showing the flower fade as they age.
the petal structure is different in each of the F1 plants. one (orange) has the cactus look I'm going for. the purple has more open petals but is more in line with the colors I'm going for. just need to be darker. got some work to do. this is going to be quite the endeavor
