I've moved these inside for a bit until I make my bug nets.
Yesterday I massacred a about 15 slugs in my garden which had been eating my pepper plant leaves. This is making me considering trying to make a hanging planter system with a bug net for my plants. Maybe one with a pulley system to raise and lower the plant depending on sun.
I'm continuing with bong water for these 3 plants, but I'm working on popping a 4th control plant which will get normal nutrients.
Soil is mostly fox farms and a bit of my compost I've been making.

Broooooo get those outta those clear cups!!!😂😶🤷😵 or cover them with another red plastic cup or sum
Oh, yeah good idea. Sun on roots. I have a cup I'll toss him in.
Oddly enough, that's the one doing pretty good
Not because of that lol but hey test it, if you Wana do that too
Had some left over chicken wire and decided to DIY some garden stuff. I'll be replacing the rusted/ oxidized steel for something... Cleaner. This was just a proof of concept. Although the hanging planter works pretty well and keeps my plant in the sunlight for a little longer.
I made bug nets in an effort to keep them as safe as possible outside.

Stainless or aluminum but from what I understand all metals leech besides gold an silver
Yeah that's what I'm thinking about next. If it sits outside of the pot it's probably fine. I'm considering buying some plastic dip (the kind for tool handles not automotive paint) to spray on a orange rubberized coating. Otherwise I'll keep an eye out for more coated chicken wire.
That'll work never thought of plastic dip lol spray truck bed liner

Purchasing some lady bugs... Ironically I think closing them up in netting made them more susceptible to the smaller pests and keep out the larger pest that eat them...
Gave the all the same mix of way too much nutrients for how small they are and did minimal measuring "That looks good" 😂
They're coming back but they aren't happy about it.
The hanging one is topped and taking it the worst. I've removed most of the dead leaves.
The second one was partially topped to see the effects it would give if I left part of the plant still on. Consensus so far is that it's sending energy to other lower branches and has slowed top growth (duh). Still interested to see how much more vertical it will get. I've also introduced a small colony of lady bugs. They seem to have eaten some of the new growth on the plant, so we'll see how that goes.
The third plant is growing on a mound. Inside that mound is a small pot with half of it's roots in the pot and half under it. This will be my bonsai this year.
We'll be starving them a day or two.

Plants seem to have rebounded from their over feeding of nutrients. I've removed some of the lower branches and leaves that won't get sun light. Some more LST has been applied.
While I was gone my girlfriend kept the plants watered, so I don't think I can claim credit in fixing them 😅
Where'd you get that mesh surrounding the plant???
That's just cheap bug netting I bought online. I think I got like 10 X 50' for like 20$ or something? It's OK quality. It's woven, so the strands can pull apart which is annoying.
Still looking to be doing a well enough job. I'd take a heat gun on low to it
That's what I was thinking too. Get the fibers to melt together a bit. That or some parchment paper and a hot iron. Plants are coming back, but two don't look as good as they should.
I think it'll work. Whats going on with the plants?
Gave them too much nutrients a bit ago and it may have stunted them. Just me being dumb and eyeballing measurements.
I dont think its dumb. I eyeball all my measurements till I get to the ec reader. Its better to watch the plant like you're doing 👍🏿
Does bong water actually do anything to the plants? Lmao
We're going to find out 😅
