Grow Timeline (19 updates)

put these seeds in the paper towel on Nov 17th on the 19th the taproot were over a centimeter long and transplanted them into a seed starter tray. They grew very slowly, and we had a day of oberwatering. Transfered to the tent last night (Dec 8) and 2 seem to be doing great. The third, not so much. Still worried about how small they are.

1 and 3 are growing vigorously, but leaves are a lighter green. 2 is still about half the size but leaves are a deep green. They have been in the pots since the 8th. Top of pot Happy Frog bottom of pot Ocean Forest. should be plenty of nutes in the soil still...

Divided 1 Gal between the 3 plants. will observe over the next few days to determine if feed needs to be increased. Watered in with .5 Gal per plant of PH 6.2 water. Added Root Gaurdian by foliar mist to all 3 plants. Added Mold Shield mist to the soil surface.

been giving plants a reduced amount per the feeding chart and have increased nutes from last feeding significantly.
Hoping that this one plant that is definitely different from the others is an autoflower ๐ค

I think these little autoflowers are transitioning to flower. may need to up the light intensity and lower the RH.
Noticed a tiny bit of white along the edge of 2 leaves. after feeding (24 hours) it spread a little bit more. Hopefully it was just a nute deficiency and will get better from here on out.

I was going to just let these grow, as they are my first ever autos. My wife, who almost killed me for bringing home a "weed tent", had informed me that I needed to trim this and prune that and everything else that is normally done to improve harvest. Soooo here are the girls all trimmed up for the New Year!
And if you don't hear from me ever again it's because my wife was replaced by an alien pod person who loves weed ๐
Looking good buddy! Keep up the good work.
I really am trying to figure this out. Think I am doing pretty well so far. Thanks for the encouragement it is always appreciated...
Lol, at least you didn't butcher them. When it comes to pruning and defoilation... IMO, less is more. Leave as many fan leaves as possible, removing only mid-level ones that are blocking light to bud sites. The plant will draw energy from them later on and it helps finish them off. Prune off lower nodes that haven't got a chance to see light so that the energy is directed towards the ones that do. My goal is to be able to look under the canopy and only see twinkling of light when looking up. That means I'm getting the most grams per watt. If I can accomplish this and have plenty of airflow in between... perfection ๐. You can look at my FBMP grow latest post to see what I'm talking about.
Autos are good for starters and certain situations like being able to flower out in Veg tents and spring/summer harvest for outdoor grows. You should consider running photos on your next grow cycle. I think you'd enjoy experimenting with things like cloning, revegging and other techniques that just really can't be done with autos.
Yes i did take a bit more off than you did. I see that I got just a tad overzealous with defolition. I did remove the lower bud sites on the plants. my mother in law suggested that I root them and see what happens. I know they will only finish the bud they started, but it will make her happy that I listened.
i really do want to run Photos. this purchase was supposed to be in response for the extremely extravagant prices my state is currently charging. Quadruple the state north of us... I will be adding another tent as the basement space becomes available. for now, autos, and a small 2x4 in the garage will have to do...
look up mainlining
You did good... and yes, always good to keep the N'laws happy.
Yes. I did do some looking into mainlining. It does seem very interesting. The yields are greatly improved, but it does add quite a bit of time to Veg from what I understand. What draw me to autoflowers at the moment is turn around time. I am trying to build enough of a stash that I can stay away from the dispensaries. I also went a little nuts buying seeds and right now I am sitting on a metric ton of autoflower seeds as well.
Definitely need to keep her happy as she lives with us. At least with 3 people in the house I can get my plant count up.
lol, it happens

Pic is before trimming the other day. Forgot to take pics this time, so cat pic, because everyone likes a cat pic!
the cat's going to get your plant, watch
the cat's going to get your plant, watch
I don't need to watch. Every time I defoliate he runs off with the leaves and devours them!

watered all 3 plants as the 2 larger plants were completely dried back, and the shortest was pretty close to dried back. Also finally leveled out my canopy by raising the 2 shorter plants.

#2 the tallest plants soil was completely dried back, and the reservoir was empty...
Looking good ๐. A little tip... with soil grows 6.5pH first half of flower and slowly elevate to 7 during finish. This will give the plants maximum mineral uptake to get them beautiful dense flowers. Since links and photo uploads via dm seems to be inactive atm, google Cannabis pH chart. you should find one that shows optimal pH for each nutrient and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Ah yes. I have seen that information. My nutes program is stating to keep it between 6.2 to 6.4 with my bloom mix, or bad things can happen... ๐ I have a bunch of updates to add for the past couple weeks. Had some situation going on with one plant. everything is back on track now. Have had life getting in the way lately. Will update soon...
All good, it happens. Someday, I hope to journal daily from seed to harvest. Harder than it sounds. Especially with job, kids, house, 4 tents to maintain... lmao ๐คฃ
any updates for us?
Hey yeah. it got a bit dicey growing as I am in late flower and chopping today. needless to say my grow journey was ended before my first harvest. Until, thanks for my Mother in law (said no man ever!). I will figure out how to tell you all the story at some point. Let it be a lesson in negotiations for future spousally challenged growers. ๐
yeah, about to go into the super busy season at work. boating season is so short up here... probably going to have to put growing for the summer on hold till I build my wife demanded smell proof growing room. ๐ซก
๐คฆโโ๏ธ awe man โน๏ธ
UGH. so temps went nuts, life went crazy, kids need us to put on supercapea, etc... life baby ..
@StashNSmash for calling out that the Foop wouldn't deliver on the CalMag department, I said I was going to let it ride, I did, ๐
had to harvest about 3 weeks early or they were going into the compost
Trim Jail was worth it. about Half of a LB dried with a light trim, I like the sugar leaves on the bid, think it kinda protects them from rubbing too much in the jar.
Rearranged the garage to make the next grow easier.
Is that in ounces?
Nice
Yes, those were ounces. I pulled just under a half pound when I bucked and lightly trimmed.
Thanks, was sure it was going to be far less...
so this was harvested super early, as well as CalMag deficiencies at the end. Everyone who has smoked this, my buddies wife and her friends, my neighbor, my HVAC/HandyHelper Guy, even my Solar Guys, have all told me that it puts Connecticut Dispo shit to shame. Super smooth smoke, really powerful balanced high!
For my first grow in a few decades, first with technology, and instant information, I expected nothing but knowledge learned from this grow to take with me.
I am truly humbled by others opinions about my final product.
BTW that's the best use for that bucket ever, and their shit actually works on the tents outside... I may Ceramic Treat the fabric! ๐คช
my first attempt at growing after taking a decade off was a wapping 1.2 grams off an auto. (didnt have those in my guerrilla days) hardest I ever worked for a joint. but oh man was that joint worth it. ๐คฃ๐คฃ
My favorite, and most quickly found grow once it went into flower, should have known ๐คฆ, was overlooking the CT River. The views were too beautiful to be secretive. I miss the good old '80s!!! ๐ค Although, being legal is pretty lit as well...
my favorite was up in the pemigewasset wilderness area of the white mountains. took 3-4 hours to hike in. buddy would hike in Sunday and come back Tuesday. I'd go in Thursday and come back Saturday. never saw a person out there. right by a river with brookies, spent the days tying flies, tending the site and fly-fishing. best summer I ever had.
That sounds like a dream come true... I was a young kid I had just gotten out of the Army and flush with cash, all I cared about was boats, broads, and buds, I couldn't even fathom sitting at my grow. we were more of a 45 min hike type 3 times a week. Living in upstate NY for. couple years was more productive, grow wise as it was much less populated.
That's awesome, striking multiple birds with a single stone, all in the name of being stoned.
Awesome bro! Glad everything turned out for you and your family. ๐ Enjoy.

Although you should, in theory, have enough nutrients for 4-6 weeks... it doesn't hurt to give your girls a good tea for feeding. In fact, autos love to be fed more so than photos. You can use compost or worm castings... or anything high in nitrogen that's organic like used coffee grinds, alfalfa sprouts etc. I've also noticed that Fox Farms, as rich as it is in nutrients, it needs weekly Cal-Mag boosting. You'll begin to notice stronger cellular structure and more vibrancy. Also note that Happy Frog is technically formulated for seedlings and clones so that portion is only good for a couple of weeks. So, it probably would've been better to actually blend the two evenly as this would create a reserve of nutrients throughout instead of concentrating them all on the bottom. Many growers start in happy frog and transition to an Ocean Forest blend during transplants to save on overall expense.
They all look healthy!
It's weird now. the plants are going from a nice dark green, to a slightly less green and back again. my wife noticed the color fluctuation first. it's not a great difference, very minor. Maybe it is related to the seemingly sudden uptick in growth over the last few days.
Thank you for all of that great information it really is truly appreciated. I set up the soil in the pots that way because I heard that OF can really burn the younger plants. I like the idea of mixing the two together and maybe setting a small core og HF, maybe 4 or 5 inches and about as many deep to drop the germinated seed into. I want to avoid transplanting next run.
For nutrients, I have decided to use Foop Nutes. I have been using the Garden for my house plants, gardens and general use around my yard for a while now, and am very impressed. Their Nutes line supposedly has all the calcium, magnesium, and silica that you need in it. When I transplanted I added the first feeding of nutes according to Foop"s chart just to get some extra of those beneficial bacteria in the soil. With my next watering I will give the full dose for their age and we will see how it turns out.
As far as this nutrient line goes, I really have not run across anyone else using it. Most people I tell about it have never heard of it. So I guess in this App here, for the moment, I am using my plants as the guinea pigs for all the rest of you to judge this particular companies offerings. I really hope they are what they say...
Sorry for multiple replies. If I type too much the screen will not scroll down so I can hit the reply button. If I close my keyboard or scroll down , it erases what I just typed. I had tried about 7 times. gave up amd typed it into my note pad, and then copy paste each paragraph ๐
lots of options when it comes to nutrients. I say if you've been getting good results in the garden elsewhere, it's definitely worth trying.
yeah I've noticed that as well, hopefully @admin has a fix here shortly for it
Look back at my first 2 posts. My wife saved them. She cranked the humidity, my VPD was trash for a long while, but magically they went bonkers and now look!
They definitely seem on top of that stuff around here.
Let admin know about it, he will fix it!
Admin really is on top of this app. This person must never sleep!
