Grow Timeline (23 updates)
managed to lay my grubby hands on about 20 Black African Magic seeds!!!! plan is to slowly veg these 2 out until heat and humidity is winding down. clone, flip and see if they are any good. if I like what I find then I'll grow out the clones and either feminize or pop more seeds until I find a nice male and get me a ton of b.a.m seeds!!
and yes, they'll each get their own bucket eventually!!π€ͺ
vegging slow and steady, just waiting out the heat and humidity. I don't want them too big when I go to flower, as it's just a test run. if they get to big I'll have to clone and put the mom's out to pasture. then flip the clones. ran them in 2inch net pots, instead of the normal 3 I usually run. interested to see if I notice any difference.
o is this a hydro set up ? id like to learn that honestly the first pot I smoked was hydro my uncle grew it and I stole his roaches .I knew something was up with plants in a baby pool lol. what a waste my first time!
yes sir. veg area is a 6 site Rdwc. flower tent had a separate 3 site system. if you're interested in hydro, I'd recommend starting with coco. it's basically hydro but just a more stable version.
ok yep I've never went pure coca I do add some to my live soil for sure .I remember I used to get a hydrophonicly grown blue dream shit was fire.
that is facts ! coco will give you the feel of balancing out the nutes while maintaining a soil like structure if that makes sense .. and honestly coco and perlite produce almost the same results from what I've been told . I'm about to try it myself , just got to get the rest of my setup
I love blue dream ! I had 3 seeds I got from a friend he just got don with a run . to my surprise none of them popped . idk what I did wrong . I got denied for sure though lol
I use canna kan for germantion I've never been denied on those there great
I'm waiting on them to get back in stock lol hard to catch them
no doubt did u try Amazon ? very hot product right now everyone sick of paper towels Evan before canna kan I used a heat pad with a temperature setting and I planted in pro mix I'm a pot with a lid on that's not for every body tho I personally suck at paper towels method that's why I do it the way I was thought in school
I was using makeup rounds . until I found out the water and peroxide method . just get the temp at 80Β°F in the garage . drop the seeds in the shot glass of 1part peroxide 2 parts water, place in the dark. . wait 40 - 45 hrs . boom tap roots Everytime . I've had no fails so far . came across the idea by accident . I forgot them , 10 seeds to be exact . and all of them germinated. so that's what I do now lol
and no I didn't try Amazon I went to the website
coco is really good. probably the easiest way to grow. in my book soil is the hardest. coco is all about how often you feed. yes you can get by once every few days, or you can feed 50x a day. I run my outdoor in coco. reason I switched over was because I was sick of dealing with the water runoff. watering was automated but I was sick pumping out catch basins everyday.
b.a.m is doing well. 2 different phenos going. one is real short and bushy. other is really tall and lanky. may clone and flip the mom's and see what they do, still a little too humid here to want to really deal with flowering at the moment, guess they'll just stay neglected for a bit longer. nutes have been a little hot for them, starting to see burned tips, but the peppers want more food so they'll have to deal with it for a little longer
one pheno (short and bushy type) is doing well, other (tall and sparse) not so well. I have flowering peppers and vegging tomato in the same system with these 2. everything else is doing fine, this little princess decided to be a drama queen. gave the system a nute change, that hasn't been done in a while. one downside with hydro is you don't really know what's in the mix. you know what you started with, but what's been taken or leached back, that's another story.
I'll give it a few days and then they go into flower room anyway. both these are just testers to see if they are any good, have multiple clones of both if they turn out well. so far -1 for the tall pheno. tbh the short bushy one caught my attention first anyway
flipped the black African magic. defoliated on flip a week ago. +pk until I see flower.
have clones on each one hanging out in veg room. plan is to pick the better of the two and run a full tent and push them until they break. so far bam 2 is winning the selection as bam 1 seems to be pH sensitive.
healthy leaves on bottom, red veins on top of canopy leads me to believe there is a pk issue that is manifesting because of light intensity. p&k are mobile nutrients so any deficiency due to feed would be present at bottom of canopy first. will raise up my lights and bump up pH. pH was down to around 5.5. over the course of the next day I'll raise it up to 6.2 and tell myself to be more diligent, which I won't......π€£
π Know Thyself
elevated pH and have some fresh nutes made the red veins fade away. little hedgehogs π¦π¦π¦ forming. I'll keep at the pk boosted nutes for probably another week then hit them with another round leaf stripping and get them back on to maintenance nutes.
DLI is around 38.
pH 6.03
EC 673
roots have formed a crazy braid under the basket!! I keep some of the 'stumps' from my grows with the thought one day I'll do something with them. carve then into chess pieces or wood inlays... possibilities are endless!!!
switching out of bloom feed back to maintenance feed. running Jack's part a and epsom at about 32%. part b is at about 28% 'recommended' dose. this will keep my p k mg slightly elevated and slightly decrease my nitrogen. unfortunately part b is also my calcium but as demand is shifting to mg and with the calcium in my tap water in not terribly concerned. calmag on stand by if needed. happy growing ππ
Badass
Thatβs so cool. I just ordered a new RDWC system because I only have a DWC system and the water is too hot like 76 and above because the tent sits at 80% during the day n gets hot and Iβm fighting that brown sludge of death, but the plants are healthy either still growing because Iβm fighting it with the peroxide, but once the RDWC system gets here and I set it up and Iβll be able to throw fucking ice bottles and shit in there to keep the water chilled and get rid of that root rot
ainβt it thi!!!!
nice!!! did you go prebuilt or diy? undercurrent or waterfall?
whatβs up glitch mane I believe your the one who let me know the temp is the culprit.. I went with a prebuilt one and I believe it is both circulating with a top feeder so itβs like I got a pump to push it through and a top feeder on it
I don't know if your system is able to but keeping the Rez out of the tent is a huge plus. you can do what you need to and not have to worry about light timing.
thatβs a great idea I think Iβll be able to set up the rez outside tent long as I got enough tubingβ¦ n Iβll buy more if need be lol
thanx for the great advice man fr I can use the knowledge ur willing to give
of course. anything you need. knowledge is useless if kept to yourself
also if you can keep your pump out of res and run it inline, instead of submersible it'll help w pump heating up the res. not end of the world but sometimes every little bit helps. and plumb a t with shutoff somewhere in your pump line. easy to drain and swap nutes that way. i can send a pic if that is difficult to understand
yo I didnβt think of that how would I rig that TOGTHER?
I have 3 clones of each just hanging out in veg room, will run full run of the better pheno. b was front runner, now shifted toward a. both plants getting same exact treatment.
pheno a is much bigger, grew vigorously in stretch. downside pH sensitive. smell lemon with earthy undertones
pheno b smaller stretch, fatter colas. much more sensitive when it comes to nutes. did not like Ca(ClO)2 at 8ppm smell lemon and pine.
pheno a doing well. pheno b is being problematic. change the nutes and potentially disrupt a or just let b figure out life? both are bulking up nicely. pheno b has a funk smell that I'm liking.
fresh nutes in a half capacity swap last night. increased mg. dropped pH from 6.2 down to 6.0.
lookin good so far
ehhh. one does lol I think I'll split the difference and boost mg and p slightly. see if I can at least stop it from progressing downhill without pissing off the other one too badly. one downfall of rdwc, it's everyone gets the same stuff lol

true!!!!
anyone that follows along knows I get distracted and neglect with the best of them. pheno b has a cola smushed up against the wall of the tent. had to chop a cola due to bud rot. first time ever getting rot in a tent so I'd say I had a pretty good streak π€£.
pheno competition is leaning heavily toward b.
pheno a: photo 1,2,3. big stretch, nice thick, dense colas, sticky and has a mostly lemon smell, with undertones of pine and earth. easy plant to grow.
pheno b. photo 4,5,6. not much stretch, also has thick, dense colas. greasy sticky. smell earthy pine with undertones of lemon. picky plant to grow. seems to be finishing faster.
the smaller stretch, quicker finish and greasy feel are what is making this plant winning so far. yes it's harder to grow but good things don't always come easy. at this point the only way pheno a pulls ahead is if it has a pretty fade color at the end. however clones may be culled earlier than that as I need the bucket space. I'll hold out as long as possible but decisions needed to be made.
π
decisions decisions
EC running at about 1200. drinking about 2 gallons a day. ran this grow at Jack's old numbers 3.6/2.4/1.2 (new numbers they recommend are 3.8/2.52/.99)
modified during flower to run at 3.8/2.2/1.2
that lowers nitrogen and increases p and k. nothing to really report. pistils are ripening, she's throwing out new ones. smells nice in and around the house...
some point next week I'll do a nute swap. just need to make more concentrate first
pheno a decided to throw out more pistles. was going to chop but now I'll let it ride for another week or 2 and see if we can fatten her up. pheno b was chopped last week, hung and trimmed. in a paperbag for a few days to draw some moisture out of the center and then into Grove bags. it's sugary and smells nice. clones to pheno b will be put into flower tent as soon as it free and cleaned
Frosty!
She looks to be an amazing smoke!
trichomes starting to amber. slightly hesitated on chopping but I needed the tent and it was due for a nute change and I didn't feel like doing that. probably could have went longer but good enough and I don't like couch lock.
Nice! Congrats!
can we harvest at the point she starts showing clear TRICHOMES,
at the first sign of trichomes? I wouldn't. you'd be missing out on a lot of growth and potency
nice color looking proper! good job !
Awesomeness
This is some clones of the black African magic that I flowered and severely neglected. They got basic Jack's formula, no nute swaps just top off and pH adjustment every 3 days. Considering the lack of care they are smaller than normal but no bad for a fuck it grow. Will keep an eye on them and chop any time over the next 2 weeks.
Nov/Dec is a busy time for me so I apologize for the lack of post. Basically the whole grow....π¬ Up next, now that I know it doesn't stress easy is a possible feminization of a clone.
Had some spare time so I chopped the bam clones. Time to run some bleach through the system, clean the tent and get the next one in there. So far I'm happy with this black African magic strain/pheno. She finishes quickly, dense bud structure, great calyx to leaf ratio and she's real stable. I put her through the paces this run, nute imbalances, massive pH swings, water level fluctuations, temp swings from 55-80 just to see what she'd do and she didn't self pollinate. Time to mix up some sts and see if I can get her to feminize. Happy growingππ
Chonky!
You always amaze me my friend. Cant wait for this DOT random mess to go away.
Thanks for the kind words!!! Grow and stock pile of you can't consumeπ€£π€£
Left the clones for too long in the aerocloner. I'm talking way to long, massive root system. I took one and transitioned it into the hydro system and it is not doing so well, shock and untangling of roots has slowed it significant. Ended up cutting out most of it's root system after it got brown and slimy, new roots are growing but I'll probably just chuck it once a new clone is established. Lesson learned..... Maybe.....
However I am still keeping a mother alive in the aero tote. Plucked a few shoots off of her to root so I can get to work feminizing this pheno. May need to set up the other tote that has constant spray. The ones I currently have running work great for roxul/plugs. Sprays for 15 min off for 30. Not so great for bare cuttings which prefer the constant spray. All in due time. We are in no rush lol ππ
cant wait to see them
I dont think I have ever partkaen in BAM. Hows the grow and more importantly, hows the high?
it's 100% stativa. earthy funk pine smell. I didn't pay attention when he was talking about effects as I don't partake. most importantly leaves fade to purple/black upon senescence with several that he grew, not all of them but it's in the genetics somewhere, just need to isolate it
Ooo very nice, reminds me of Durban Poison
you had me at 100% sativa π€€
hell yeah!!! I seem to have a thing for landrace African strains lol
