Grow Timeline (24 updates)
One day after sprouting tap root and 3hrs after popping out of the rockwool she is at full attention!!! Top drip wasn't working so its another hydro first for me... entire grow will be bottom fed!!! π€π
I don't like top drip so I'm my books that's a win!!! Lol. Good job!! Happy growingππ

Lmk if you need any guidance w/o top drip. I didn't feel like typing a bunch of stuff if you already know what to do ππ
Thanks... I know the feeling... im moitstening them once a day with water from the reservoir until they reach the reservoir
When I transfer my roxul into my net cup I go a little deeper than you did. I like to cover my cubes with at least 1 layer of hydroton. No particular reason, just what I do. Raise your water level up so it's at the bottom of the net cup, touching bottom of it. The airstones will pop bubbles at the surface and splash water into the hydroton which will wick up into the roxul. As your roots grow down, when they hit the water, you lower it to about an inch or two below your net cup and then ride out from there. When you refill res never go past this new water level of an inch below net cups. if your ladies show signs of over water, drop it a little more. over water in hydro, who woulda thought π€£π€ͺ I don't really re wet my roxul after I introduce it to system, maybe a handful of times in some slower growing crops squirt it once a week but usually by the weeks time roots are already dangling. This is just what I do. Could be wrong but it works for me. Happy growing ππ
Thanks for the info... gonna give it a shot!!! I have mines high to block the light from shinning through the mesh pots and into the water
The baskets I had came with little mylar circles to cover them. You could use a piece of foil cut to the size of the basket with a hole in the middle and put over it until the leaves block the light.
Good idea...Thanks ππΎ ππΎ ππΎ

Woke up and checked her roots as usual and they were covered in slim... changed grow bucket, air stone, hoses and soaked in a deluded h2o2 solution... everything was looking good for 24 hours then BAM!!! Roots were nastier than somebody's else kid with a snotty nose wanting to give you a kiss π!!! Cleaned everything again flushed for 2 days then hung her up to dry... good thing is she was about 7 weeks into flower and her thrichomes were cloudy and turning brown!!! Not as big of a hual as I was hoping but not a total lost either!!!
That sucks sorry for the lost i had 1 i lost this grow as well
Do you use beneficial bacteria or sterilizing additives to your nutes?
ππΎ
I used hydroguard but I think my tools got contaminated and I didn't properly sanitize... next grow will start after I sanitize EVERYTHING I use for my girls... lesson learn!!! ππππ... ROOT ROT AINT NO JOKE!!!πππππ
Root rot definitely sets in quick. What I've done to combat it was a 3ml/gallon h2o2 root soak at first sign. Cut out anything that is rotted. You can cut out about 1/3 of your root mass and they will recover. While it's soaking, scrub bucket and change out your water. Hydroguard is good stuff. Southern ag fungicide is the same stuff but in a 98% concentration so you use less. Just a cheaper route for you to explore. If you're using tap water, your hydroguard may not be as effective as you'd like bc the chlorine/chloramine kills some of not all of it.
Tbh I only sanitize at beginning of new run. Bleach out tent, wipe down light. Rdwc will get a bleach run and rinse. Refill and start again. Tools, ehhh rust is self sanitizing right?
Thanks... I'll try the Southern ag fungicide on my next grow!!!
Thanks... tools = buckets, syringe, airstones, hoses, etc

Ahhhh that's makes sense. I was thinking trimmers and what not. Hoping you didn't think root rot came from your scissors!!ππ.
To use Southern ag garden friendly fungicide easiest way is to make a stock solution. 1ml Sagff in 19ml water (1:20 dilution). Then from that stock solution use 1ml per gallon. That will give you 0.05ml/gallon Sagff Or Eyeball it at 1 drop per gallon Add once a week. If water temps stay 65-70. That's a weak dose for a healthy system. Idea is to introduce the bacteria and let it multiply. You can go much higher if you need. If you get biofilm, you are over populated and used too much
Always thought about doing hydro for fun but then I see this and say naw Iβm good lol I give myself enough problems to deal with as isπ
Thanks for the detailed information... looking forward to starting a new grow!!!
Roflmao!!! It's like caring for a newborn baby!!! Take patience and a lot of attention... IMHO its a fun challenge thats very rewarding!!! I have 20+ grows majority turned out great... this is the first time I had this problem so I'll chalk it up to complacency on my part!!! lessons learned Roflmao
I thought the same thing. But you're really just doing what you'd do for other media. Check pH/EC by dipping a pen in resi vs collecting runoff. Correcting is where you save time. Few drops in a bucket. For me soil is the worst. Coco is the easiest but I got sick of dealing with drain to waste. With soil by the time you notice a problem it's a battle. With hydro/coco you notice a issue quickly and you can fix it pretty quick
