Grow Timeline (19 updates)
2 x Strawberry Cheesecake X Jelly Mintz Auto
2 x Jelly Donutz Auto
Direct sow with humidity domes and light watering. 18/6 Light schedule at 40% power, 19" height.
5 gallon grow bags with Super Soil.
1/3 Natures Living Soil+FF Coco Loco
2/3 FF Coco Loco
First true leafs have arrived and I removed the humidity domes. Also increased the light to 50% and will be light watering up to twice daily as needed.
The grow bags were not completely full of soil, so I folded the edgea down to about soil level for better airflow.
I fold my cloth pots in half and fill em with roughly 3 gals of soil myself. side note. Brave fencer musashi for ps1 is one of my favorites lol
Depending on how these do in the 5's I may reduce the soil amount. I have not heard of that game! I looked it up and looks awesome and will try and find a way to play it. I got this handle from the Book of Five Rings.
All 4 seedlings are doing ok, but I may have slighty over watered them. Go figure. Gonna give them some drying time between waterings based on soil dampness 1-2 inches below soil surface. Shooting for 2-3 days between drinks.
Changed the humidty targets to 45-67% from 60-70%. Its pretty dry in my lung room, so my humidifier is working OT.
Leaves are showing a bit of a curl to them. Otherwise looking pretty good.
Tested my tap water PH and it was 8.5+
PH downed some water to 6.8 for tomorrows watering. Was being lazy and should of done that from the get go.
Wind rash I always say it's a healthy stress. Same as when the leafs curl inwards on the tips from intense light
She is asking for calcium and magnesium. Twisting leaves is a calcium deficiency sign pale green color is a sign of magnesium deficiency ๐
Watered yesterday morning. Noticed the front 2 Jelly Donutz were not getting any air flow on them because they were furthest away from the fans.
I moved 1 fan to the opposite side and evened out the airflow. Now they all are swaying a bit.
I like your setup. What do you have in the bottom duct ports?
Thank you. They are AC Infinity Grow Ducts.
Was out of town for 4 days and had someone else watching, they felt underwatered. Gave them a good soaking a started some LST and pushing fan leaves under. Also gonna set up my drip system on a Kasa outlet for scheduled watering.
6.8 PH tap water. Adjusted RH max to 60% from 67%.
Added 2nd image showing day after watering. They seemed to recover quickly.
Plants look a bit stunted and one of the Jelly Donutz looks like its already in flower pretty early. I ended up defoliating it lightly. Didnt touch the others too much. Lil bit of LST applied.
Just fed 1 Jelly Donutz and 1 Strawberry Ceesecake some 4-4-4 Gaia. First top dress of the grow.
I can't pin down whats causing the stunting, but I suspect over/underwater, N burn, or Light burn? Just takin it day by day.
Added some 3D printed watering rings that also had LST clips. So I defoliated the underside and used some ties to spread the canopy.
Gonna drop the PH to 6.5 on my next watering and my RH has been a Lil low 35-45% because I have been lazy with my Humidifier fill ups.
I think things are going better than I expected for my first grow lol. Have a lot of notes logged for the next grow in mind. :)
I actually like that tbh
Thank you. Gonna modify it so I can run an irrigation line to the trays.
Where did you get them or did u make? an no problem ninja
Printed them myself. https://makerworld.com/models/1394334?appSharePlatform=copy That's the link to the model.
Awesome.
Watered this morning with 6.5 PH + CalMag 1/2 dosage. Top dressed Gaia Bloom at 1/4 Strength. Also removed some bottom growth.
One of the plants had some wilting and it might of been soggy soil so I chopstick poked to aerate and it bounced back a bit.
Not much to report. One of the Jelly Donutz might of had some root rot and was showing drooping leaves. Skipped the last watering and off set by a few days and it slightly helped but is definitely showing slow progress in flower.
Other plants are doing OK and smell pretty good! Still gonna feed some CalMag until final flush weeks. Already thinking about what to grow my next try.
Water uptake has increased. They are looking and smelling good. Top dressed fed 2 days ago for final time. Cal-Mag every other water.
The slowest plant is starting to recover and bulk. Adjusted the lights with Photone app and a diffuser to really see what PPFD was at. Going to try and keep it consistent next run based on what's needed during each growth stage.
How do you keep them short ?
I'm not really sure. It might be the genetics? This is my first grow.
Watering every other day. Setup the drip irrigation again to help me water. I have a 50l reservoir with an air stone running in it.
I am now trying to get a grasp on looking at trichromes to help me understand when to harvest. From what I see on the Jelly Donutz they are further along then the Strawberry Mintz. They may be the first to get harvested. I am worried about drying conditions as my RH in the area I want to dry is very low. May try the lotus method as I have a lower vlume to process.
Harvested both of the Jelly Donutz. They had the what I think is the right ratio of amber, milky, and clear on the inner buds. Did a wet trim and have them drying in a modified wine cooler.
I felt pretty stoked about being able to get this far. 2 more plants left and they look to be a week out at most.
I grew a few jelly donutz autos last grow and all 3 phenos were fire. Gonna run some more on next grow, maybe 4 or 5 of em. Everyone who tried em loved em
They were pretty easy to work with and smelling amazing. Can't wait to try them out. Definitely gonna keep these on my list of grow agains.
I made it! First grow under the belt. Now just to dry them out. They are all in a wine cooler that I leave slightly cracked. The hygrometer reads 55-65 RH at 50F pretty consistently. I picked up a moisture tester and will be checking the content towards the 1 week mark and then again as needed. Looking for 10-12% moisture levels.
Gonna try the grove bags for curing and store with Boveda 62's after that.
Congrats! ๐ช
Sneak preview of the setup for the 2nd Grow. Decided to go with 6 plants. Strain undecided but have a few in mind. Gonna stick with autoflower for now as I liked how fast the first grow went.
I am going to use the 3D printed watering rings with 3 gallon fabric pots for a better fit. I also want to do a hybrid watering system. I am going to use 2GPH drip emitters on the top and bottom of the autopots. Will be doing some testing on if 2GPH is enough for the water tray or maybe 4GPH. Worried the water won't flow evenly around the ring if not enough water flows to it. Anyways if I use a timed outlet I can fine-tune watering. My thought is to not have to water until run off from top, and mainly rely on autopots for uptake regulation. Probably unnecessary lol.
Should be seed to soil this weekend.
BTW. Loving this app and seeing everyone doing their thing has been really enjoyable.
This is about the coolest thing I've seen. As for your concerns... I would modify the upper irrigation tray to inhibit the draining on the edges and replace it with a troth that rings around it and directs the water to the inner points so that the root zone saturates first. I would also consider running 2 reservoirs. A small one for teas that sits above the ring for top feeding that would be gravity fed upon opening the valve. And have your autopots provide a consistent feed of water from below as designed. If it works like a champ ๐ ๐ช, I'd happily pay for you to print me some 5 & 7 gal covers! Good luck! Keep thinking outside the box.
Thank you for your feedback! Adding a separate reservoir for topfeed teas is a great idea! ๐ค๐ผ I will hit you up if it works well, I cannot print the rings bigger than that unfortunately. My printer bed area isn't big enough or I would of went with 5s.
Would you be able to scale them in a file format? That way I can have my bro print them? Awesome idea.
Yeah I could definitely do that for ya! Lemme look up standard ID of 5 gal and 7 gal fabric pots and I can modify the files. It would require a pretty big 3D printer. Something like and H2D from bambu. Or I could maybe make it in 2 pieces with a puzzle lock configuration. I'll DM you with details when I can work on it.
Appreciate you ๐!
The 2 Strawberry Cheescakes X Mintz plants were pretty dry when I harvested and just tested at 8% avg moisture content. Threw them in grove bags to begin curing.
The Jelly Donutz are at about 15% moisture avg and probably a few more days before moving to cure bags.
I have been at about 50/60 for most of the drying with light air exchange. They smelled like hay at time but now has now retained their danky smells. I think that's a good sign and a tell sign they are almost ready for curing. ??
Nice set up GROWMIE
Thanks Krazie! I am excited about seeing the results and the journey.
