Grow Timeline (14 updates)
Discarded Male GMO and Wilderness Kush Mutation. Down to 6: 2 green crack, 2 godfather og, Dosidos, and Jack Herer. Topped Jack Herer today and will be topping baby godfather og later this week. Planning to repot into 5 gallon pots this weekend so that I can start bottom watering soon.
Top watered to give the roots time to work to the bottom. Going to start bottom watering 5 most mature plants in 2-3 days when the soil dries out. Going to top water the baby Godfather OG at least one more time before starting bottom watering. Hopefully next weekend. Plants are looking strong after being topped. Going to Veg for another 2 weeks and evaluate whether it is time to flip to flower.
Started bottom watering 2 days ago (all but youngest Godfather OG). These girls are thirsty. Currently having to refill water pans every day. May need to look into gravity fed reservoir so that I dont have to water so often.
Also defoliated big fan leaves to improve airflow and light penetration. Not sure if this was necessary or even beneficial. I am not going to remove big fan leaves from young Godfather OG for comparison.
Jack Herer is very compact with close internodal spacing. It has the same number of bud sites as the other plants but is only 9 inches tall. I am hoping it hits a growth spurt over the next week or so before I switch to flower. But Jack Herer is known for substantial stretching during flower. So I need to keep that in mind. Tallest plants are around 15 inches. I need to flip when it reaches around 18 inches to make sure I have plenty of head room in the tent. Possibly going to flip this weekend.
Switched to 12/12 light schedule and flipped bloom switch on LEDs last night. Tent started to get crowded. Running lights from 11AM to 11PM. All plants currently being bottom watered. Reservoirs take about 0.5 gallons each plant every other day. Currently running 7ml each of A and B vivosun nutes. Going to increase to 10.5 next week and to 14 for the next two weeks after that. From there I plan to taper down for 3 weeks and switched to pure water for the remainder of grow cycle.
I need to do some LST on the youngest Godfather OG. The two top stalks are stretching hard.
Noticed some of the leaves on top of canopy starting to develop yellow tips. Seems to be some mild light stress, possibly due to the increase in light intensity (veg+bloom switches on). Raised lights to 24 inches above canopy.
Increased nutes to 9ml/gallon. Stay here for one week, then 11.5 for one week. If all looks good, increase to 14ml/gallon for 3 weeks and begin ramping down
These girls are thirsty! Up to 3 gallons a day (0.5 gal per plant). Still watering with 9ml/gallon of both A and B.
Green Crack #1 is stretching so I tied down the two top stalks.
Added PVC pipe inside tent to stop walls from sucking in. Just tie wrapped them to the poles. Nice gain in sq ft.
Also added two more lights (Fecida 130W LED) for a total of 6 LEDs and 660W. Temperature at canopy level stayed around 77F and right at 57% humidity. VPD chart suggests around 65% humidity, which sounds high based on general recommendations for flowering. Tent is maintaining 57% and the plants seem to like it for now. Just don't want mold issues
Plants are looking healthy and growing like crazy. I should have done more dedoliation before switching to flower. Did some defoliation on Dosidos and Jack Herer two days ago. They seem to be doing great. I will likely do some light defoliation on remaining 4 later this week.
Purchased a pump and timer to automated refilling the water pans. The reservoir holds 21 gallons and should last a week. Defoliated some more. Lots of leaves laying on top of other leaves and covering bud sites. They are getting tall!
Must be thirsty girls, beautiful canopy
Thank you! Yeah, very thirsty. Consistently taking 1/2 gallon per plant per day.
All 6 are finally showing some buds. Jack Herer is the smallest and also the last to start flowering. Seems like it may be the last to harvest. Dosidos is currently flowering the fastest.
Girls are getting tall! Tallest plant has grown from 15 inches before the flip to 40 inches tall today. Hopefully they don't grow too much more.
I just got done growing Jack Herer. itβs the plant in pic 2? my Jack Herer was nitrogen hungry the entire flower. I wouldnβt decrease the nitrogen on that plant yet. and it took over 11 weeks to finish.
It is the plant in the first image. The second image is the Dosidos. Thank you for the advice!
This is my first grow so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but how could you tell that it needed more Nitrogen?
the leaves will fade to yellow, lose luster, curl and eventually die. A toxicity the leaves will get dark green and waxy looking and start to claw downward
it was kind of a pain to grow. I recently moved and have really hard water so Iβm not growing with salts and experimenting with different things. I was using growdots which is a premixed timed release nutrient. worked perfect for my gods glue and was not enough in flower for the Jack Herer from the stretch. I tried to supplement it but wasnβt easy because you add growdots on day 1 veg and just water until harvest.
Itβs definitely not a dumb question. I am by no means an expert and still research all the time because I really donβt know shit haha. but here is a good guide with pictures to help. https://dutch-passion.com/en/blog/a-visual-guide-to-cannabis-deficiencies-n987
Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it! I will keep an eye out for deficiencies. I feed all of the plants from the same reservoir. I can add nutrients directly to the Jack Herer base though if it needs more than the others.
don't bottom water with cloth pots...... Use a dripper and top water. I get much better roots balls top watering slowly until the pot is saturated. Usually will zero or little runoff
Thank you for the suggestion! I already have the bottom watering setup so I will probably roll with that for this grow. This is my first grow and I have been stressing about over watering. I will definitely look into a drip irrigation setup though! Question: Do you leave it dripping 24/7? Or do you have it programmed for certain days / times?
I use a gravity drip system.....A hanging bucket with two hoses out the bottom with 2gal hr drippers. takes like 2 hrs to water..... No runoff to speak of and no wasted nutes
